NO NO NO on every level. Just because Heskey leaves LFC and unlike so many ex reds turns his form around isn't enough reason to bring him back.................. It's not the players fault but we used to play long and high whenever he played then return to playing to feet once he was subbed. It used to drive me to distraction !

Anyway Michael's coming back in January..............you heard it here first ! :D

I think he is playing very well at the moment and of course we can have a good look at him tomorrow.

So heskey, yes or no? I would like to see him back, what about you guys

what for? we got Dirk Kuyt mate...

No bloody way.

He used to boil my blood when he was at Liverpool. Too big, too clumsy. Defenders used to bounce off of him and get cheap frees.

I think its an option now we dont have crouch, in all fairness heskey has been brilliant for England

Hasn't scored in five years, that's brilliant you're right!  :D

I wouldn't want the long ball back at Anfield, going back is a mistake anyway so he shouldn't do it. Bruce is right that it could damage his England chances, big fish in a small pond suits him better like it does Crouch. He's given credit for his 'work' much like Crouch has been, hopefully that's a sign Rafa won't want him as he ditched Crouch. I'm not a great believer of the myths that Heskey won England such and such a game without tangibly leading directly to most of the goals. Laughably I heard someone suggest he won us the 5-1 in Germany! Other players can do the same job AND score goals, THEY'RE the truly great forwards. Don't have to be prolific, but 1 in 4 is not a great strike rate, Kuyt's is currently better for us despite playing out wide a lot, and even Crouch's was nearer 1 in 3 than 1 in 4. To sell Crouch and bring in the older and no more effective Heskey would be a joke. The only thing Heskey has on Crouch is bodyweight and he's never really made most of that asset

And he's now 30, so I'd say no way Jose Brucie.

Emile Ivanhoe Heskey

DOB : 11/01/78

Leicester : 40 goals in 154 appearances (0.260 goals/app)
Liverpool : 39 goals in 150 appearances (0.260 goals/app)Birmingham : 14 goals in 68 appearances (0.216 goals/app)
Wigan : 13 goals in 69 appearances (0.188 goals/app)

ENGLAND : 5 goals in 50 appearances (0.100 goals/app)

It's quite remarkable he played similar numbers of games and scored similar numbers of goals for Leicester and Liverpool, and now Birmingham and Wigan. If he were to move back to us then that symmetry would remain more or less.

LegBarnes - exactly. Give me Zaki any day and every day of the week. Smaller clubs will find players like Crouch and Heskey will take them upwards, but if they seriously want CL football then they'll find that better teams can counter that kind of threat quite easily. I didn't really get why Cappello played a 'target man' against aside that was going to defend deep and therefore you'd bring the ball out of defence more than you'd hoof it upfield for Heskey to hold up waiting for support. I'd rather long balls played up the flanks for Walcott and SWP to chase.
Never buy from PC World, product quality is poor and their 'customer service' is even poorer

agreed with owzat we need some more wingers not more striking, keane is a aerial specialist and when you put a nice low cross into the box hes there he we need flanking players that said i think that riera currently has been quite effective and all we need to do now is get a decent right winger, pennant can bugger off and also we need to get shot of kuyt, with the money from these 2 players, granted kuyt performed for us yesterday but yet again in my eyes he was lucky zaki appeared to be everything kuyt is not......the jumping side volley was a lucky third for us. whereas the overhead from zaki was incredible when i seen it i was :O zaki worked for it and made agger and carras life incredibly difficult, whereas kuyt was very lucky with his 2 goals that said i was glad we won but im still not happy with quite a few mediocre players that we dont need :-
benayoun, pennant, dossena, kewell, voronin
if i was gettin rid of that lot i would be replacing with any of these players
carlos vela, incredible young striker better than pato in my eyes
kerlon, very effective brazilian that is extremley versatile and very very quick for the wing
afonso alves.......bye kuyt, incredible for middlesborough and incredible before he went there, quality forward
and many more but cant be bothered to keep going!!

I think he was actually clapping Hyypia on wasn't he? That'd make more sense given he was a stalwart of Heskey's Liverpool era.

Yes, I think we should sign Heskey, what with his prolific goalscoring record, which is, for example, oh so much more impressive than Kuyt's. :kungfu:

It's not as ridiculous an idea as some of you are making out but it's not a move i'd be in favor of. While we are winning football matches at the moment we could deffo do with a plan B to change-up a game when we're struggling to score. Hesky would certainly give us that but I agree with those who say he's been tried and tested and failed to live up to his first 18 months at the club. A few posters have alluded to his lack of heart/effort plus ability to stay on his feet but I think he has improved his game in these respects putting in some real 'tough guy' performances for Wigan. I'd agree with Mick in that he wouldn't be willing to come in and play a bit-part role and tbh that is all we would need him for. I also agree his return to the England set-up is what really has him linked with a move to a bigger club but he's more likely to end up at Villa or the bitters.

Where is Nemeth ?
Havent seen him at all this season, even in the ressies and watched a few matches.

He looked really good last season as well.

On the Heskey thing, i wouldnt mind tbh, i know he has his bad points and he wont score many, but we are very thin on the ground if one gets injured i think.
He wouldnt be a bad signing for a season if he was really cheap. Just until we sort the ownership issue out - cos lets face it were not going to be looking at the pricey end of the market unless we sell in the near future.
