Despite much suggestion pre-season that teams would field some kids on the bench and bring them on when their team was in box seat, game won, the boss has stuck with more senior pros on the bench. It's not as if we're overloaded with strikers - Voronin is out on loan, Robkeanho and Torres start more often than not and Kuyt is on the wing.

Despite a lack of strikers, N'Gog is barely making the bench, his only appearances this season against Crewe and as sub for Torres in the 0-0 against villa. We're hardly knocking them in for fun, yet he can't get on the bench let alone pitch.

Agree that he seems to have the raw materials - only 19, but quick, strong, looks like he's got a shot on him from what we've seen so far.

Hope he's got the mental attitude to harness and deploy his natural attributes effectively.

Cisse, on paper, had / has all the physical attributes you'd look for in a striker, but couldn't get his head around something as simple as how to bend your run and stay onside.

Honestly though, I couldn't give a sheet whether a player "has all the physical attributes" or not, as far as I'm concerned they score goals or they don't. People go on about Owen being "past it" and not as quick as he was, he still knocks in goals when he plays and that is the crucial thing.

And until I see enough of him to make that judgement, I'll just talk about what I have seen of him....

The progression of this youngster seems to be traditional. First, making a preseason with the team, do well enough to tell the manager that he can count on him during the season, which he did, and then wait his chance.

Of course, we're top of the table, but I don't remember many comfortable wins, and I remember many come backs. Ngog just needs we have a 2-0 or a 3-0 so that he can come to the team and have his share of minutes while he gives a rest to Keane or Torres. I hope we'll see the lad in those situations. For the first season in the first team, it would be enough.

Despite a lack of strikers, N'Gog is barely making the bench,

This "stat" of Owzat though about the times he didn't make it to the bench is meaningful. I did expect more appearances in the bench, not in the pitch.

WTF? I just cannot see in any way shape or form what this lad has. He may be lightening quick but I haven't seen any evidence of it yet. He doesn't seem blessed with bags of skill, nor does he seem good in the air. He doesn't seem to be particularly aware of whats going on around him, and he doesn't work his socks off.

How can he possibly be a credible replacement for Keane (there's no wonder the Irishman is getting fecked off), and aren't this Nemeth, Pacecho and the like better than him given how much people on here talk them up all the time?

I'm not in any way witch-hunting this young fella, but I simply cannot see any single thing about him which convinces me that he may one day make a footballer. Is it just me or what? ???

No mate its not just you.

I agree, I don't understand the signing at all, he is a poor player with a poor touch and passing.

I agree, Nemeth and Pacheco could do better than him, I don't know why Rafa doesn't play them at least as options in games, maybe because he doesnt rate them as much as ngog (who I think is just a poor player).

Yet more proof that Rafa is not good at signing young players imo. And you cant say Nemeth nemeth either. Under 23s or whatever it is he plays is a different kettle of fish. They are all rubbish tbh otherwise we would be seeing them trying to break into the 1st team.

This pacheco fellow could be a player who can unlock those tight defences with some of his killer balls he does (that I've seen in pre-season). Maybe Im wrong, but he should have been given a chance in the carling cup this season.

The situation with our kids is generally so bad I can only laugh.Do you not think Paccheo is a bit young though metalhead?

Yeh, like I was saying, would have loved to see him playing in the carling cup or something.
