wasn't much tension?
maybe not on the final day because although there were some times when I was thinking "well if they just turn around some of those middle matches that could go either way, then it could get dicey for us"
But there was a lot of tension in many of the matches on the first 2 days. Earlys leads are so important and so rare for us, and any match that goes to 18 is a tense match. And there were some big putts holed on 18 and a lot of times where we were 1 up and then hit it in the water.
And overall, the quality of the play on both sides was very high. There were a lot of holes halved with birdies. I think the Europeans actually played well, good enough to win even in any other year, we just played out of our heads
I think 'Zinger is going to redefine what being a Ryder Cup captain means. He put sooooo mutch time into every possible strategic decision. He became a complete dicator and controlled as many aspects of the tournament as possible in order to give his team the best chance at winning. He even changed the qualifying system to ensure he had more "big game" ready players, and increased his # of captains picks, and then picked them based on a team strategy and how they would fit the format (i.e. J.B. Holmes in 4 ball where he is either going to help you with a 380 yard drive, or if he drives it off the course, its no bother because he has a partner) If whoever becomes the Euro captain for 2010 takes a page out of Zinger's playbook, I do not see away teams winning the cup for a while unless they are completely dominated.
