What came after, though, had me in stitches.  It was the American version of this show:

Hole In the Wall

Call me juvenile but there's just something fun about an announcer shouting "prepare to face the hole" and then watching 3 dim bulbs in silver cling-wrap suits and helmets get mullered by a giant foam wall. :D

THIS, OF COURSE, IS HOW THE GAME SHOULD BE PLAYED

I watched the rough pilot of this a few months ago Bob

I dont think they did themselves any favours trying to pass it off as the 21st century X-files

I cant say it jumped up and grabbed me say like first episode of Lost did , but I am willing to give it time. Mainly because there is naff all else around these days

I see first episode of second series Sarah Connor is up for download now as well for those interested

Spot on, mate.  Given that it's Abrams and given the X-Files comparisons I'd heard, I was expecting something that really made you sit up and take notice right out of the blocks.  I didn't get that feeling but a lot of great shows have been slow starters.  Like Robbie Keane, I'm prepared to give it some time to find its feet. :D

A 21st century X-Files? But that show only ended 6 years ago. Fuck, still can't get my head around that it started 15 years ago.

I can't see this Fringe lasting at all. If it's trying to pass itself off as an X-Files kind of show, it'll bomb. Worst thing they could do, because the X-Files struggled in it's first two seasons and was almost canned until one of the actors who played the fluke man in the second series saved it by his writing. I normally like to give things like this a go, but I'm hearing it's containing shaky cam work, which makes me want to bang my head against a brick wall. Why directors think this sh*t effect is cool, I just don't know. It's like they think people will think "oh, look - shaky cam, whoa! This shit is real!" W@kers.

I watched the latest Terminator episode last night. Shirley Manson is in it. There's something about her. She's a bit like Marmite I think.

I thought the Music on Fringe was the exact same lost music or at least very similar with intense scary strings played pretty much throughout. Normally, I only like shows that are firmly based in reality, and used to hate Lost for a passion. But I also love the complexity of Lost, and the overall well writteness of BOTH each episode and the overarching story line.  There are also a lot of good literary techniques and references on display if you dig deep into most lost episodes.  I used to hate the X-files, and was scared of it when I was really little.  And the crazy fringe science stuff is one thing, if that is going to be the point of the show, then I can suspend my disbelief for that to enjoy the creativity, but then there is all this even crazier gov't cover up story line or something and then an even more outrageous super powerful MNC storyline, which gets me annoyed, but I guess that is how Abrams does things. BUT THEN, they get Joshua Jackson to act completely against his character that they set him up as in his first 5 minutes.

TV shows and computers

I mean come on. In prison break they have introduced the typical hacker. This tv shows make a lot of harm to the actual computer guys in the world. In those tv shows getting something done is always a matter of minutes, you can see a lot of gibberish in the screen and a HUGE PROGRESS BAR. Solving the problem at hand is usually a matter of watching the progress bar.

No matter which system you're into, Prison break's Company OR Independence day Alien's computer system, you'll always get enormous ACCESS DENIED at full screen. For some reason aswell when the camera focus the computer guy's face, the face glows mirroring the screen, which is something that doesn't happen in real life.

To make things worse the IT guy is someone to bully, like Lincoln Burrows does, did you see all the abuse?. Then we pay for all this, and people expect we solve problems in a matter of seconds.

Yeah, you're right there. It's so cliche and insulting at the same time. They've been doing that sh*t since the 80's. 24, as good as it is, always does this. They always have that scenario where a bomb is defused with 1 second to go, and the IT people at CTU always have schematics of buildings right on queue that show the building in a 3d wire frame. Not only that, but they can pinpoint people in the buildings via some kind of super satellite. Riiiiiiiight!

Just about to sit down to watch the first episode of Supernatural Season 4 (for those who are interested in that sort of thing...Misty, Laza and a few others).  We just finished Season 3 off the other night so everything's fresh in the mind!  I'm looking forward to a night of classic rock, wise-cracks and cool demon effects! :buttrock

I thought that too Laza, but the developing story line of Sams ultimate destiny (still unclear) added so much more to the show. Certainly in my current top 5 of "shows not to be missed", which for the record are.

1.The Shield
2.Supernatural
3.Dexter
4.Bones
5.Terminator ,the Sarah Connor Chronicles

:)
