Agger can buy himself free for £2.9M
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Even if Daniel Agger has a contract with Liverpool until the summer of 2010, the national team player could already change clubs in January.
The comet of the Danish national team has strong cards on his hands in the comming months, if not the powerful manager, Rafael Benítez, start looking for Agger when he picks his central defenders.
As the picture has shown until now Agger has to fight against Martin Skrtel and teh veteran Sami Gyypiä for a place on the team as Jamie Carragher is obvious choice.
But Daniel Agger has one advantage in the long run, as he in merely 4 months could buy himself out of the contract with Liverpool.
No contract offer
It has to do with the Andy Webster-verdict (judgment in January 2008, )
as a trump that should alert the Liverpool staff.
Daniel Agger could since buy himself free for a substantially less sum of millions in comparison to what would be the price for him in a regular transfer.
With this possibility that would be a natural consequence, that Rafael Benítez as soon as possible re-negotiate his contract, if the club - as it has announced - puts their fate on him in the future.
But the reality is far from it.
- I can confirm, that I haven't received any offer of a new contract from Liverpool, says Daniel Agger to Ekstra Bladet.
Daniel Agger could move to another country merely by paying his remaining salary of his current contract. Officially is called that he buys himself free, but obviously it will be a new employer, that buyes the freehold.
That would be a favourable deal for a new club, as it doesn't need to pay more than up to a third of Daniel Aggers real market value.
He could buy himself free in January, as he's then been three years at Liverpool.
The rules are crystal clear: When a player under the age of 28 by the time he signs his contract, he only has to fulfil three years of his contract regardless of the length of his contract to be able to buy himself free.
Aware of the verdict
At the question of he would consider the Webster-verdict in January, if the sporting prospects in the red Liverpool-jersey still isn't optimized, Agger answers shortly:
- I'm well aware of the Webster-dommen, but I have no further comments, says Daniel Agger.
I can confirm, that I haven't received any offer of a new contract from Liverpool

Weird the way he has dissapeared out of the team. I know he had a bad game against liege away but Rafa would be a fool not to offer him a new contract.
