Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Thursday nite I couldnt sleep dreading that news that our boy wonder was leaving :glare:
Friday got up and hed left
Saturday I thought the spurs would kill us an our heads would be down ,we threw away a silly second half, no worries tho first game new manager and that.
Sunday all quiet on western front :p
Monday Nunez signs
Tuesday Alonslo Is practically going to be here within hours :D

And now all of a sudden things dont seem so bad they seem pretty great and we are going to have one hell of a team and get teams afraid of coming to anfield once again cant wait.
This has been one hell of a rollercoaster ride thank god its going to be over soon, its been so nerve wrecking everything, but finally the peices of the jigsaw all seem to be getting put in the right places.

Come on you reds  :D

Jib Scott and Marry me? :D

Nar i agree, am thinkin we've got serious potential as a team here. Gerrard and Alonso could be one of the best partnerships ever, Alonso 22, Gerrard 24, could be around for the next 8 or 9 years. (I'd love to see Alonso in Liverpool red).

Kewell is only 25 aswell and Riise 23, so theres a partnership on the left for the next 5 years potentially, then theres Cisse who's only 22. The team looks highly promising. :)

UPDATE 1-Sociedad and Liverpool agree Alonso deal
Tue 17 August, 2004 16:06

(Adds details)

MADRID, Aug 17 (Reuters) - Real Sociedad have agreed to sell Spanish international midfielder Xabi Alonso to Liverpool, the Primera Liga club said on Tuesday.

"Real Sociedad and Liverpool reached an agreement this morning for the transfer of Xabi Alonso to the historic English club," Sociedad said on their website.

Sociedad added that the player had given the go-ahead to the deal, which is expected to be finalised in the next few hours.

Spanish media reported that Liverpool had made a 16 million-euro ($19.61 million) offer for the highly rated 22-year-old midfielder who has won 11 caps for Spain and is in the squad for this week's friendly against Venezuela.

Deep lying play maker with great passing and technical ability aswell as superb vision. Not as athletic as Gerrard but more so than Hamann, has decent physical pressence and can tackle.

More tactically aware and intelligent than Gerrard but not as forcefull and powerfull.

Similar to Guardiola at his best only better going forward from what i've seen.

Stu how are you mate hope the your well.  The key is as the last 3 seasons right midfield  every thing else is good enough for the moment but we are getting killed on the right mid. Even Spurs had too much joy in that area on Saturday.  More controversially Kewell needs a boot in the backside, he's not making enough runs at the defence.  He's a world class player who should have been giving the young 17 year old a torid of a time.

Although this has been a Liverpool problem in recent years i beliveve that the central partnership is key to a successful team. We need to sort out the right side posistion very quickly thou. Currently we have a weaker midfield than, Arsenal, Man Who and Chelsea.

Not anymore! Our groups of Kewell, SG, ALonso, Nunez/Garcia are much better than ManU's group of Giggs,Scholes, Djemba, Fletcher. Arsenal is still better than us with Pires, Veira, Gilberto and Ljunberg in the depth department with Edu, Pennant and Fabregas. We only have Hamann, Biscan and Diao....:p
