Thats never ever happened. EVER.

Yeah, but to be fair Keane has only played 3 games, you have to give him time  :D

here's a question to which i have no definite answer but i thought i'd throw it out there anyway...

on wednesday england play their best game in ages without stevie g at centre mid. today we play our best game in ages without stevie g at centre mid. is there any connection or significance behind these two facts? are those performances because of or despite of his absence?

I think with england, because Gerrard is more versatile and has obvious talent, a place in the england team is a must, despite him upsetting the balance. This isnt Gerrards fault, he is never deployed in a position in which he is accustomed to within the england team.

For Liverpool, I think Carragher carries more respect as a captain. He is more vocal and will make the other players pull there socks up whereas Gerrard inspires through performance.

My two pennies worth !

I think what andy_g is really asking is whether Gerrard is a boon or a harm to our perfomances. I know a guy who's a liverpool supporter, who thinks that gerrard is the one who's holding us back as a team. The reasoning was that because of him, we couldn't really get a pure playmaker and hence our lack of creativity and fluidity. I think that it's utter bollox... I don't think there's ONE manager on earth who doesn't want a player like gerrard... and it is up to the manager to find a way to use this highly versatile, very talented, match winning player like gerrard. There's no doubt about it. andy-g mentioned that england played well without gerrard. But during eriksson's time, there was a period that they said when gerrard play, england never lost. A team performing well or performing badly is more than just about one player... all the parts need to click and that's just what happened to england and LFC.

Whats all this :censored: about Gerrard hindering the team ??? all coincidental, when our other players step up, we shouldn't bag the players who continually save us points.........middlesborough this year.............. ???  Just because he's been caught having a kiss with Alonso doesn't effect his gameplay :p
If you can't amaze people with your intelligence, try confusing them with your :censored: :)

The balance in the English midfield has been achieved with Barry playing alongside either Gerrard or Lampard. Barry and Gerrard clicked on the occasions they played alongside each other for England.

It really is a question of who gets the nod between the 2, and it is a no-brainer for me. While Barry and Lamps won't let England down - Barry and Stevie will always be a better pairing for England, since well - Stevie is a better midfielder than Lamps.

England played much better also because there was cohesion in the attacking unit with Heskey holding up the ball for Rooney, Cole and Theo. If you add Gerrard to that - you have the option of 1 of these 4 players making darting runs to pick up the ball from a *Heskey* type forward and creating havoc.

Alright Bob you are the GOD of all knowledge I will accept that I will never change your opinion, however much it pains me, however I sent theat post mainly to talk up Cisse's value and why he should never have been replaced by Bellamy, Kuyt or Keane because he gave us what so many on here talk about: absolute PACE but who life goes on.

PS: Eto'o turned 26 on 10th March 2007, which makes him 27 now.

Saw this exact same thing on redacafe and i think its bollox .
Stevie should not have played against Ac milan than eh , he practically got us all 3 goals !!!! .

Stevie should play every game if possible , bar torres he's the only other consistent goal threat that we have

The game against Milan was an exception he did that in about 10 minutes and the rest of the half played right-back through to extra-time and didn't take penalty either.

A better example last season home to inter where he had brilliant performance and scored.

now on 99 goals for liverpool.

by the way, in my mind, his first goal last night was the best he's ever scored. the technique was simply sublime.

If he did score and deliberately wound them up the Bitters would just make a complaint. like Manu fans did to Fowler 3 years ago.
