Based on what I've seen up to now I'd have to say that the Dutch look to be the favourites for this tournament.
They are notorious for falling short in the big tournaments but based on the other teams that have played up to now nobody else really looks up for the tournament.

Must admit I underestimated the dutch. I really didnt think they would do well but they have been brilliant. Van Bronckhorst also, shown more energy than most teenagers do during a match ! Kuyt also, he just doesnt stop running. So far the dutch and germans look good for the money. Roll on the spain match....

Excellent from start to finish from Holland!

Good to see Kuyt giving his all as usual and setting up 2 goals.
Its not often a team plays that well in the first game of a tournament.Italy were not great but it would be cruel to say they played badly.
Holland just blew them away.
Best match so far by a mile!

Van Bronckhorst very well done. MOTM for me, but more could have been motm.
Kuyt, awesome. Sneider awesome. And then the bench with: Robben, Van Persie, Affelay, Heitinga..etc :)

First goal was NOT offside, all the commentators in America which are Andy Gray, Tommy Smythe and some girl are all getting it wrong.

11.11 DEFENDER LEGALLY OFF THE FIELD OF PLAY
A defender who leaves the field during the course of play and does not immediately return must still be considered in determining where the second to last defender is for the purpose of judging which attackers are in an offside position. Such a defender is considered to be on the touch line or goal line closest to his or her off-field position. A defender who leaves the field with the referee's permission (and who thus requires the referee's permission to return) is not included in determining offside position.

I did think that too.
But it seems it's a rule a player can't 'abandon' a game. So the italian that was beside the goal, was the still in the game.

Commentators checked the rules on dutch tv, and strangely it's a correct rule.
