already been to anfield this year sweetheart, and being raised near the ground and supporting them for 37 years and going constantly until moving to asia is hardly glory hunting, but why let facts get in the way of you nastiness

4 games, 4 results. Luck is on our side but it wont last. We have to pick up the pace. The players look out of sorts, we have made signings in the past but cannot remember looking as bad as we do now. Rafa should get those players in training and keep them there until they sort themselves out. Very painful to watch tonight.

Anyway we won. Dirk scored the winner and fair play to him, we'll need to play a lot better, and we will. Long as we beat Villa at the weekend all is good.

Really pleased to see that the lack of rotation is paying dividends as well. Even when you play terrible you see, you have that team spirit, the togetherness, that cameraderie that you don't get with heavily rotated teams. That's why we keep winning. The good thing is I'm not being serious, just imagine how silly it would sound if I was. It'd be like claiming that changing half the team every game has no effect on cohesion whatsoever, and how daft would that be :D

From what I've seen though, (and I haven't seen any of it tonight) the introduction of Keane and the reversion to more of a 4-4-2 (or 4-2-3-1 if anybody prefers that description of it) is having quite a detrimental effect on the levels we were achieving last season. Whether that's because it has meant Gerrard not playing quite so high up, or because Keane and Torres are taking each others spaces, or even a combination of the two I'm not so sure without watching more. I think we have to stay with it and give Keane the opportunity to show us what a good player he is (and he is) and I can't help thinking that the solution starts with moving Gerrard to right to replace the bloke with the deadliest calf and knee in the Premiership (yes I know he got the winner tonight). We could then ask Keane to drop into the hole more, which would have the dual effect of freeing up space and options for Torres and also slightly compensate for Alonso's lack of forward mobility at times. On the left we could play Babel, or Riera when he arrives. Arbeloa would no doubt look quite good at right back then which would be good.

That's how the cocktail barman sees it anyway.

And calm down people!! if we fall out today, what will happen when we draw two games!

alonso had a great game... MOM imo... gerrard on the other hand was poor even though he was trying his usual stuff it wasn't coming off again... alonso redeemed himself from the boro game... well done xabi!

No mate, MOM is Reina, who made a couple of VERY difficult saves.

He's the reason we're through alongside Kuyt's goal.

Alonso, the usual passes he does to give the game some order and sense were not right. An action where he had a free kick, he decides to take it quickly to Benayoun in the left and that's not an advantage. Not his best game.

I thought Dawson had a point about focusing on Kuy because many of our men were under their standards. Babel, until the cross didn't contribute a lot. Neither did Benayoun. Torres was much worse than he's got us used to. Keane could have done better. Fabio Aurelio was mistaken many times and didn't hear Rafa who yelled him to overlap.

Yossi was our worst performer of the night. As most of us know, Kuyt atleast gives us 100% effort.

I guess it is still early days for Keane, but if he doesn't continue playing he won't figure out how he fits in the puzzle (as pointed out by a previous poster). The only reason Kuyt gets stick (not just us, but fans all over the EPL) is because he is supposed to pose as an attacking through a LOT, LOT more than he usually does.

People keep banging on about our defense. Reina was there to bail them out - Kuyt eventually bailed out the lethargic offense, but he was just as much a part of it being that way to begin with.

Yes, it is easy to say that there was no service to Keane and Torres and that Yossi, Kuyt, Stevie and Alonso are to blame for it. The question I have is this, if our wide midfield players cannot contribute effectively to our offense for MOST of the game - how do we expect to continue winning, when we see the same issues a month later?

I, for one, am willing to sit through another month as long as we keep getting the results. And I will thrilled to bits if we win the Title playing to get results - but surely, it will NOT be an easy ride. It will be a long, long season :(

Some of you make me sick.  :no

yeah cos kuyt is world class now based on kneeing one in from 4 yards

idiot

kuyt makes me sick too. fair enough he scored a goal at last. he was at the right place at the right time. he didnt do anything magical to create the goal. kuyt stinks. end of. liverpool didnt deserve to win this game. no desire shown.

wtf are you on about? our team didn't give up for 120 mins! they toiled and toiled until they got a goal! support your feckin team for once moron...

oh shut up you imbecile. fecking blind :censored:. so what if we won? im not impressed. did we need 120mins to beat a team that compared to us has no reputation? retard.

you see the problem with you and fans such as you is that you discount the opponents too easily just because they have a name you haven't heard with your vast football knowledge... they're not belgium champions for nothing... like it or not their players are decent and they played very very well... we didn't play well but we put in 100% effort and did not stop trying until the last minute and that's why it paid off... give credit where credit is due... stop being a bunch of narrow minded dimwits...

toffeehater has the right attitude...
