People need to get it out of their head that by playing Gerrard behind Torres he has to be some sort of Bergkamp or Zola type player. Gerrard has his own talents and can play behind Torres in his own way, are you going to sit there and tell me that he wasn’t effective last year? If he wants to come from deep then let him, if he wants to pull wide then let him. That’s the beauty of playing 2 holding players, the 4 in front have a lot of freedom to take up different positions.

Spot on certain people need to stop stereo typing players roles for them.

He doesn't have the movement, touch and vision to make that position work and be effective against top sides as we've seen every time he's played there.

We've got to play to our strengths. Our two potent players were at their best last year when playing in the 4-2-3-1 formation. It still baffles me as to why we would abandon this and spend £20M on a secondary striker.

4-4-2 with two attack minded wingers (Babel/Gerrard) Tell Benayoun to Kuyt to :censored: off for good. Neither are good enough and never will be to play on the wings.

With Keane dropping off Torres as he undoubtedly will it'd be a 4-2-3-1 anyway if Gerrard and Babel get up and support which they would.

4-2-3-1 every day of the week - playing that position enables us to play to all our strengths and brings the best out of all the players - gives us good protection , good width , pace ability to score goals . worked well for us this year and the signing of keane has meant we move back to a 4-4-2 - mistake imo.
