Tiredness - I'm sick of this cr@p excuse

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

If Benitez is going to keep a squad of 20+ players happy and have some real competition, he has to use more than 11 players. Generally it is wise to bring on some fresh legs at the end. Tired players should be replaced. This also gives substitutes a chance to prove their worth and if they perform well, they may earn a place in the first 11.
If football is banned in heaven. I'd rather go to hell.

I think the way liverpool played in the second half was out of Habit!
I dont think Benitez subs were odd as he wants to see how all of his strikers are doing and he may well have pushed Kewell further as an idea of whether he would like to pay him as a 4th striker now Owen has gone!
I think once Hamann has gone and we have some balance on the right it will get some of those negative traits out of our game!
Also i think that Dudek was at fault for the goal near post should have been covered plus there was still a lack of pace at the centre of defence which looked dangerous!

i actually didn't think we were exposed for pace too much on saturday but the defoe goal was a comedy of errors. hyypia mistimed his header, carra dived in unnecessarily and dudek was beaten at his near post. :(

I think that maybe we are missing the point of being tired and fresh legs!
Tired yes they probably wouldnt be as sharp as one of the subs!
Also i agree partly that they wernt pressing as well in the second half!
But i think that it had as much to do with our midfield as our strikers!

It does happen but sometimes i think its a poor excuse. On this occassion, its the first 90 minute competative match against a half decent side, its going to take its toll. Probably by the third game i'd expect the players to be fully fit.

Yeah cheers Stu,

It must be terrible being a Pro. footballer. It must really knacker you out

I suppose by the time Cisse gets home from sowing seeds on his dads farm and walks the 5 miles to Melwood, and Baros gets home from his day on the building site, and cycles the 18 miles to Melwood fom his third story council flat. It must really tire you out. On top of that they expect these players to play 90 MINUTES on a Saturday, tut, tut, I ask you!

Its small comfort that they the modern day EPL footballer earns 50K per week.................I suppose having to do a day job, walk and cycle to training and play football with all that money in your back pocket, you are bound to be fcuking tired!!!!

Give me a break ffs!!!!

St Mikey,

I do agree to a point, however a pat on the back, when a player scores a good goal now and again.

I think Defoe highlights our excrutiating lack of pace at the back, the boy was terrorising us all afternoon, with his speed and aggression.

60 quid or 60,000 you get tired mate
Start of a season your fit but not match fit totally even if they are full time
Liverpools players have improved on their fitness over the last few years but the first game does mean that they probably did start to look jaded.

The money is ridiculous but it is an economic fact and if any of us played we would get tired as well its the players who dont make the effort to begin with that wind me up.

alonso will improve things,
Midfield has the highest work rate and if you take your foot off the pedal, then Spurs get a chance.
We were the better team in the 1st and also after Spurs scored. It wasn't so much being tried, it was a little over convidence that the game was already won. A good learning experience for RB.
Go Red or go home

sorryTaff,

I do not buy into that whatsoever, tiredness is in the mind. If we was winning tackles all over the park, passing and moving throughout the match and were 2 - 3 goals up, believe me we would not have been tired.

Cisse, you can see was absolutely pi**ed of, when substituted, the guy wanted to play the whole game.

Yes 60K is an economic fact of the modern footballer, but the reason they are paid '60K' is because of the money in the game, that proide our 'finely tuned athletes' with the best facilities money can buy to make sure they perfom to the highest level, week in week out.

Please do not make excuses, these pre-madonnas (not all I may add!!) do not need you and I to make excuses for them.

absolutely.

tiredness is entirely a mental thing which is used as an excuse when you don't win games. if you are winning games consistently you'll never hear players moaning about tiredness. in a confident side you can't wait for the next game.

ok players are not the ones who come out and say this most of the time, but manager's attempts to defend an inept performance with the "tiredness" excuse is laughable.

Actually, I think our team had a habit of dozing off in the second half. We had the same problem last year. LFC is known in HK as a "60 minutes team". I really don't know what's the problem but I think its more mental than physical.

I don't want to hark on about the old days.................but here goes................In the old days, the commentators used to say, you can never write Liverpool off, now you wouldn't back Liverpool if your life depended on it!.

I suppose things can only get better.(I hope) 1st game and all.

Yeah cos the adrenalin gets to you and I agree that the confidence thing plays a big part as you cant wait to play instead of using energy up in nervous tension but it still does not detract from the fact that tiredness is a physical reality more than a mental one and the last thing Benitez wants is risk to injuries etc.

Ask Arsenal if they were tired of absolutely battering Everton into submission, because I certainly wasn't tired of watching................absolutely class football, must admit a joy to watch (green with envy) and without a certain Viera and Campbell

How does Wenger do it? ???
