well I haven't posted on here for a while but last night warrants it. We were awful, that was the worst european performance I've seen for a while. The game is over two legs and I reckon we should beat them at Anfield without too much problem. The players should just take this as a wake up call and hopefully they will learn from it.

I'm not too concerned what this means for us against Sunderland though, league games and away European ties and totally different. As long as that midfield is not put out again I think we should get three points. Gerrard and Alonso must start for us to have some order in the middle of the park tho.

I have to agree with Ciggy with regards to Keane however :(

Liege played like an ugly girl who gets taken to the prom by the school hunk.

She may as well enjoy it while it lasts.

We gifted your team a goal opportunity from about two inches from the goal line and your guys still couldn't score.

Then you got a BS penalty, and STILL couldn't score.

On our worst day, you couldn't beat us.

At Anfield, you will be put to the sword mercilessly.

You will tremble in fear.

For I am the RED DRAGON!!!!!

Listen we didnt play great but its not the end of the world.

People need to came down.

The year we won the thing we were beat at home in the qualifiers by Graz a team from Austria!!!

Alright it could have been worse but we were missing a good few players and were playing a team that the ref let them do what they want when it came to tackling

We have the second leg to come and we will be fine, as for Keane mark my words he will be a hero to Liverpool fans by the end of the season.

You can only wish your team played as ours yesterday, no argue about that.

Asking for your players to wake up ? Maybe some of you should wake up to reality too.

I see here and there that "Plessis is too young to perform". I guess you didn't see our midfield yesterday, check the post of my fellow standardman here to see the age of our team...

Before you get me wrong : Liverpool is a better team than Standard. It's normal considering your budget is much bigger than ours. But that didn't prevent your great Rafa to be overwhelmed tactically yesterday.

I'll check back here after leg 2, and congratulate you all if you win. More : i'll support Liverpool in the group stage if they go through because it's a great club, regardless of some discutable comments i read here and there.
But if you lose, prepare for some nasty posts too :p Rivalry is part of football and it's a good thing when you do not cross boundaries.

I salute Liverpool fans and wish you luck for Sunderland this week end.

We struggle in these qualifying matches.

I blame the lack of the Champions League logo and anthem.

It's missing from qualifying games. We can't get into the spirit of things without them.

We'll be ready at Anfield - we've ordered some cricket pads and body armour to counter your idea of "tackling."

I guess physical british play is not what it used to be. Another big surprise for me to see you whine about agressivity in a football game.

Our defense played harsh, if you're surprised that a smaller team does that, you don't know much about football, man  :glare:

Why?

If we played as well as Liege, we still would have ended up with no goals.

He's played 3 games for Liverpool. "Too young" means too experienced. Even the Liege 20-year olds have played many many games for the club.

Nonsense. Our players have been at the EURO's and some at the Olympic Games and our captain was injured and off the field for most of the games. Granted LFC didn't play well, and Liege were enthusiastic, but that's as far as it goes.

We played poorly no doubt last night. But have to say Standard Leige was quite dirty when it comes to some tackling. But i have to agree Standard Leige really marked us well as we were given no time and room. But when we have the full team in two weeks at Anfield, Standard Leige will become Below Standard Leige. I was going to say may the best team win but I guess not as I'm biased. Don't even bother leaving a link to your forum as we don't give a Shlt about your no name team. :D
