Sums it up when our keeper is our best player on the night. We deserved to lose that, no doubt about it. Defence were a shambles, midfield were made to look bad because of Liege's tactics of the forwards dropping off to mark them, but the defence should have spotted this and tried to do more than just lump it. Carragher and Agger didn't win a header between them all night and we were vulnerable at set pieces yet again. Very sloppy performance.

On the bright side it can only get better. Also Benitez giving the like of Plessis and El Zhar responsibility in an important game is encouraging. Plessis will really benefit from having played that game.

I agree 99% with this.

Alrite they have their backs up having to play us after finishing 1st, but its not our feckin fault.

Dirty feckin perves I flew from there two weeks ago to Alicante and we sat in some hotel bar outside the airport and the barmaid wanted to kop off with my fella.

when is rafa goin to learn that you'll win nothing without quality wide men, simple as, fair enough the spine of our team is quality through mascherano,alonso,gerrard,keane and torres but what do you do when a team puts up a brick wall in the middle like so many teams will do this year against us, arsenal, chelsea and utd can pass round these whereas we can't

Fu..ck..in ell people get some sort of a grip will you before you right the season off after just one game??? Don't despair just yet eh? Let's not forget:

- We always play pants in these qualifiers
- They played very well
- The referee let them kick the absolute sh....it out of us
- We were missing 3 of our starting midfield (Stevie, Masch, Babel)
- This was their biggest game of the season with a partisan crowd behind them
- A good few of our lads clearly aren't up to full match fitness just yet
- We didn't concede
- The game at Anfield will be completely and utterly different

And please let's dispel the old 'our lads thought all they had to do was turn up tonight' line that gets trotted out everytime we play badly against an inferior team.

What an awful performance. Shocking all over the park. Dosenna looks average to me and why is Kuyt still at this club? The whole balance of the side was wrong. We had players in wide positions who aint wingers!!!
