I think there should be football in the olympics, so long as there is basketball, tennis and whatever. I agree with Manhatten on this.

GB should have a football team too IMO, the reason we dont apparently is because if we did enter the event as GB. FIFA have threatened in the past to make a GB team up for the WC and EC if we went into the olympics under GB.

IMO the olmpics are a seperate event in which GB takes part, as for the WC ,Wales, Scotland, N.Ireland and England take part individually which I agree with. Keeping our identity is paramount for the British teams in football at the WC and Euros. But not in the Olympics as we already participate under GB.

anyway the question wasnt about football at the olympics, as football is already part of the games, it was more to do with GB having a football team. And considering we're holding the event in 2012 and the fact that the home of football is England, its only right we should have a team.

And its my opinion as a true footballing fan, football can never get enough coverage.  :nod

Agree completely , dont know what the fuss is about.

Though obviously I rather not see Liverpool players competing , in fact they could probably scrap the 3 overage player rule fullstop

There is an argument that it isn't widely practiced by enough nations to be a regular fixture at the Games.

The same cannot be said for football, the world's most popular sport.

I wouldn't be opposed to darts at the Olympics since I don't see how it's so different from archery and shooting.

fat guys & pints. I think that's the difference.

Of course I wouldnt want to see LFC players there, unless there some of the kids that never get a game for the first team (hell they'd be a few!).

Isnt the sport at the olympics mostly of amateur nature anyway, in that case they'd have restrictions. Its not as if GB would take many of our first teamers away, its all the other f.ucking nations like Brasil, Argentina and Holland.

Still, its not illegal drug taking.

Just keeping the fluids up, which every avid sportsman should do.

Chinese, American, and Australian athletes are virtually bred from birth to be super motivated sporting machines.

Our athletes are either posh people who ride horses or row boats on their private estates, or people who try to get some practice time at their local sports centre after or before work.

That's why Britain struggles at the Olympics.

Might have something to do with the time difference.

Most of the live events are from 1AM to 6AM.
