I never knew he hadnt handed in a transfer request. Why?

Whats would he loose if he had a put one in?

I'm not too sure but they say that barry will get 1-2 million from 'loyalty' fees if the transfer went through without him handing in a transfer request...

seriously though what's £1-2 million when you're earning £50k a week and the transfer request would help push through and finalise a 'dream' move to a club in the champions league and in with a chance at the title?

Its called Greed

From what I read the other day, Barry would get 10% of any transfer fee, BUT NOT if he puts in a transfer request, HOWEVER the transfer fee wouldn't necessarily go down, Villa would just get to keep more of the money. While Barry who would also miss out on a testimonial season would get nothing, which usually means that the buying club(Liverpool) gives them a large signing on fee.

Can anyone really see O'neill saying "we dont have to pay Barry his cut now, so we will accept a smaller transfer fee?"

Unless someone else suddenly shows interest he may stay at villa and never win a trophy or even play in the champions league.

Maybe now we can concentrate on signing a player we need, although that may be it for the summer. We could sell the German Peasant who masquerades as a winger, but what can you get for £6m? Another German Peasant
Never buy from PC World, product quality is poor and their 'customer service' is even poorer

I didn't know we had any German players in our squad, is this a new signing that I've missed or are you referring to the Ukrainian pony tailed ponce?

Barry not being sold and raising funds for MON merely highlights the miserable state Villa are in.

Apart from Brad Freidel they havent signed anyone who could make an impact and standing still as we all know, means going backwards.

We bought Keane and Spurs immediately moved for Bentley. Good on them for being proactive instead of crying like the whinging tw@t.

did u notice any child-like behaviour coming from benitez during that Chelshit-Gerrard saga back then?

I wouldn't readily have called it childish, but Benítez did certainly act unprofessionally (this is according to Gerrard: My Autobiography) telling him to sign, but never providing the contract, telling him that he was about to provide a contract while there was none on the table, telling him he wanted to stay but making the Club Captain feel like he was on the fringe and was being forced out. It was the Chairman's intervention and Gerrard's love for the club that saved us, and not Benítez.
