Well I am sitting there and I am telling you Alonso has been dissapointing, because it is quite simply plain to see.

Lets not get too carried away in hyping up Alonso to something he isnt.

On the notion of him being so great, why is Rafa willing to listen to offers of around 14 million pound and flogging him off, maybe hes missing something your not.

The man hasn't got a clue. Thats why.

See my signature and read the quote on Alonso and you'll understand why he fails to see the obvious and is not ready to give the lad some credit.

You won't get any of it, Bamaga the red has other priorities to decide about Alonso staying or not and he'll act as a thought police man to discredit the player there where he sees a praise.  :;):

Welcome back Stu, very informative posts on Barry and indeed good news on Barry. It's several good posters already (Scott, you, bigmick and others) who talk nicely about Barry and that's comforting.

Unfortunately toasterhead its not ALL about you, I know you'd like to think it is. But waaaay before its about you its about whats best for LFC. Then just that miniscue would cap it off nicely in the hope that if Xabi leaves, you'll leave too.

Now stop following me around the boards, sniffing around for trouble and f.uck right off, I've got nothing to say to you, your irrelevent to me and LFC.

Now f.uck off you attention seeking who.re.  :)

BTW toasty, yer mate STU just said Rafa hasnt got a clue, you dont like those comments do you  you hypocritical kunt.

the 2 full backs we need dossena and deggen!
a centre half? carra, skrtel, agger all you need is a benchwarmer, cheap as chips.
a winger ,according to the rumours thats exactly what we are chasing....silva,milner,bentley etc.
you may also see another striker but if not i think we may see more of babel up top.
and whats more barry is alot more flexible than alonso as in he can play in alot more positions....

Skyrtel and Hyypia won't win you a title. Degen's :censored:.

Milners not even better than Pennant, Bentley plays on the right we need a left winger and Babel's not upto it.

Next?

skrtel and hyypia are great back up players to carra and agger

plus have you seen degen play?? give the lad a chance

babels not up to it?? first season in the prem the 20year old scored 10goals as a bit part player, hes got massive talent and potential only a fool would right him off so early

Agger and Carragher aren't a great pairing. They lack ariel dominance which shows when we conceed set pieces and they are both overly aggressive which can lead to them both being sucked towards the ball.

Hyypia is well past his best (finally) and I don't believe for a second Skyrtel is the answer.

We should have signed Woodgate when we had the chance.

Yes I have seen Philip Degen play. Twice, he's not good enough. He lacks positional sense and isn't the quickest and his ability on the ball is lacking, nowhere near good enough for a club of this size. Much like Arbeloa.

Babel isn't upto it. I don't care if he's 20, 25 or 65, he's not good enough. I'm sick of hearing the pathetic "give him time" remember Henry and Pires arguements. They don't wash, you either have it or you don't. What exactly is Babel's potential? Where is it? He doesn't use the ball correctly, has no vision, never makes a right decision with the ball at his feet, has no left foot and has a heavy first touch, that doesn't sound like a Liverpool player to me, never has never will.

I'm sick of hearing the potential remarks, Sissoko, Baros, Cisse and all the rest had Potential, I've listened to your :censored: for long enough, you rate every player Liverpool are linked with or every youth player we have. The fact is, we're fourth for a reason and have been for years for a reason.

You even mention that Alonso's "World class" in another post...

Only a fool would write Baros off after the euro's a few years ago.
Only a fool would disagree with Benitez about Sissoko.
Only a fool thought Jamie Carragher was a good player from day one.
Only a fool knew Dirk Kuyt wouldn't live upto his price tag after his first season.

The truth is, the only fool is the one that sits there kidding themselves we are good enough and can't figure out why we aren't winning the league every year...

Does anybody know a stimation about how much a player (international) like Barry may earn a week in Aston Villa, and what kind of contract might have in Liverpool?

I know we don't have access to that info, but more or less, give it or take? thanks.

You mocked barry the other day, because nobody in Spain has ever heard of him, now you want info. Pah !

Bamaga give it a rest lad...

I'd expect Barry to be on around £40,000 a week at the minute rising to £60,000 for Liverpool. Rediculous money really.

Of course thats a complete guess but thats roughly what I'd expect.

I don't wish to get into another arguement, but I don't think putting comments in your signature is the way to go.

If your going to argue..... argue, then move on, putting things in your Sig only exacerbates the problem.

As for Stu's post about our needs, I think he is almost spot on...... I think we are pretty well covered at CB (if Agger returns to fitness). Certainly I wouldn't be shopping for one at the moment.

I understand your comment, and I understand you defend your friend, but if the mods don't feel punnishable comments like kúnt or my loyalty to newkit after 4 years, I feel with the right to defend my honour.

Would you agree that "kúnt" is something not acceptable? :)

I will take no shít and I'll defend myself under the rules. I've proven to you and to others that if I'm not insulted I never fight back. I'm the first one interested in talking calmly about football. If he stops the shít, I'll remove the quote and any answer to that shít. It's simple really.

I wasn't defending anyone, although I hope Bamaga is my friend. He put something in his sig too Sabre.

I was just passing comment.

Fair enough no problemo.

Thanks Stu for that info, I just wanted to compare wages here and in the liga.

The more I read you all, the more I think there's something interesting in barry for this club.

They both seem like stars in the making

Great contribution today Stu.
Agree with you 90% on the Alonso/Barry discussion but have to admit I'm beginning to question the "Class is permanent , Form is temporary mantra" . Two seasons of under achievement by Alonso's own previously set standards and our expectations can hardly be classed as a temporary loss of form. Alonso's certainly one of our classier players but his performances these last two seasons have raised significant question marks despite his "class" as to the validity of his overall worth to the team.

Yes I love to keep Alonso along with Barry , but given a choice between him and Barry as to who will contribute more to the overall success of the team I'd have no reservations in choosing Barry for all the reasons you've already so eloquently expressed.

Barry may lack Alonso's "flair" but I'm convinced he'll be more consistent and effective.
