How did the press know about it? they can have their ways, could be that they got it from a source from Aston Villa or a source from Liverpool. However, MON [b]declared[/d] that it was true that LFC did bid for barry and was outraged with how they bid for him, in public. His outrage at LFC was an overreaction, because I don't think Rafa would want to make it publically known that we bid for barry! Did Rafa say in any of his interviews that he wants barry? no he just kept quite saying he is a good player and plays in 3 different positions when asked about the future of alonso, but he didnt say he wanted him at anfield.

Thats why I thought Rafa was proffessional as ever, staying quite in these things and doesn't want to dig in deeper in the matter.
I guess I agree with you about the player's agent maybe leaking this to the press. Who knows really, it could be anyone. Even Uncle Albert
I love Alonso, the guys class, but he hasnt been doing it consistently like Barry has. Barry will add so much mroe to our team than Xabi did.

How unprofessional is that though? For a manager to come out and say that during a euro game hes lost the plot.
England captain for one unimportant game so what he wont be captain again.
They have rejected a 3rd bid hopefully its the final one its now time Barry handed in a transfer request.

I wasn't suggesting the club have behaved like Real Madrid, far from it. But to brazenly talk about a player who belongs to another club (despite the fact we might have just made a crappy bid) is gonna p..i..ss off the other manager/chairman and has subsequently (in my opinion) driven up the price. I just don't see any reason for LFC fans to be pis..sed with MON, what's he done wrong? I can't see it.
