They,im sure feel the way about him as we do for Gerrard.Im sure we can all remember when Mourinho tried to take Gerrard from us a couple of years ago.In the end there was nothing LFC could have done to keep the player, ultimately though it was Gerrards choice to stay and only he could have decided  where his future was to be.

Likewise with Gareth Barry.LFC want him Martin O'Neill wants him to stay(which i fully understand) but it is Gareth Barry who will decide what colours he plays in next season,no one else.
O'Neill knows he cant have a player who has no desire to reamain at Villa.
So there is no point Villa fans blaming LFC.If it was not us after their captain it would be another team.
They should also remember he stated he wanted C/L football, sticking a come get me sign in neon lights on his head in the process.

If Barry becomes an LFC player,Villa fans should blame one person only...Gareth Barry its his choice!
No point chucking shi.te at us or Rafa!

Just came here to say what a brilliant post this is.

Obviously Villa fans know that Liverpool are bigger than us, but any football fan will agree that it's annoying when bigger clubs come in for your best players.

Untimatly, as the poster said it's Barrys choice at the end of the day. He can either stay and become a Villa legend and hopefully be a part of something under O'neill or he can go to liverpool where he is guaranteed Champions league football at the moment at least.

And Barry WILL improve you. When Barry plays well for Villa, Villa play well it's that simple. obviously you have players like gerrard etc already at liverpool so he's not going to be the star man for you but he can keep the ball, he can pass, he has excellent vision (some of his passes to Young this season have been fantastic) and is a good tackler. He's been a lot better than Alonso this season, i can't comment on who the better player is overall but this season barrys deffo been better.

Anyway in conclusion, we all at Villa hope that barry will stay and I think he will. I think he's waiting for us to sign someone to signal our intent to him, if we have another summer of signing Harewoods and Knights then he could leave. Plus, whatever you think you will end up paying over the odds now as you've upset o'neill!

And just another point - to whoever said Barry was a 'one season wonder'  ???

He's been an excellent performer for the last 5 years. He's only getting attention now because O'neill has turned Villa into an attractive club again. he was as good now as he was under Graham Taylor in 2003 when we finished 16th. he just didn't get noticed then because we were a lower mid table club.

Manhattan would be happy to let Barry stay at Villa, on one condition.

That Villa bring back those snazzy pin-stripe shirts that Hummel designed for them back in 1987.

I was listening to an interview with Peter Taylor yesterday and he came out with that Gerrard and Barry have been roomates when on International Duty since 2000. Best of mates he said .

I can see Fernando getting jealous here

Tomorrows mine, I'd prefer Aguero. But, Barry is good.
