Makes you wonder whether this is a new start for Xabi or whether he is still on the list of players to be sold.

Something needs to be sorted out one way or the other soon or I think he will make Rafa's mind up for him.

Aldo was saying on $kySports that hopefully the speculation will be a bit of a kick up the backside for Alonso as he hasn't been performing to his top level for the past 18 months.
For me he's spot on cos Xabi hasn't reproduced the kind of form that he showed in his first 18 months at the club for a while now but he's still a step up from Barry. His pass through to Nando was some of that quality that has been missing for a while now, the control (lucky or not) to get away from the incoming Villareal player was neat and then his almost perfect ball for Torres to run onto would have split many a world class defence apart.

Hopefully our Xabi is on his way back!!!

Yeah I heard that mate (about five minutes after you  :D )

I think a lot depends on whether his poor form has been lack of motivation ,or as some suspect, that the opposition have found ways to stop him playing.

It was a cracking pass, the weight, timing etc was just great.

Best thing about this game was our spanking new silver kit. Our players looked right sexy b@stards with that on.

yeap Aldo has a point , if alonso can recover his first season form or close to it , we don't need to sign any other player because no one would come close to him when he's on form  :nod

Class keane , the commentator asked him if he think this sqaud was better than spurs , he replied i don't know its only been a few days yet

Commentator : Do you think gareth barry will still join you

Keane : I don't know that's something you have to ask the manager

if that had of been a champions league match over 2 legs we would have just had a great result there, with a full squad. However to get a 0-0 with Villareal and a mis match team i think was terrific.

we'd have taken 0-0 away leg on a CL game.

Thought was a good enjoyable game once stream was working - youngsters looked sharp again apart from insua who once again for me doesnt seem good enough but the rest -Plessis,Pacheco,Nemeth,Spearing and Darby all look like got good futures . Ngog did well and should of really scored .

I just do not understand why Voronin gets so much playing time in preseason when once the season starts he will be a fringe player, I would have liked to see Nemeth on the pitch longer than Voronin he is just cr@p

Insua seems strong in the tackle and does not mind throwing his weight about and his distribution is quite good but his positional sense is a nightmare

Not sure about his distribution as i have lost count the amount of times he has given the ball away and a few times in very dangerous situations - he looks better going forward but very poor defending .

And i expect the reason why nemth only got 20 mins cause of his involvement in the under 19 euros

What an effort by Spearing at the very end, some volley that and was very unlucky to spin away right at the last second.

Like Scott was saying about Robbie Keane i loved watching him lay the ball off and tell the other player what to do next, taking responsibility in building the attack.
Cant wait for the season to start and see him linking with Gerrard and Nando on a regular basis.
