Just seen the Lucas goal, (I missed the first half ) cracking pass from Pacheco. Voronin with a delightful chip as well! Looked in control from what little I saw. I was a bit surprised to see Masch, Babel and Lucas ...... getting them fit for the Olympics :(

Yeah babel did nothin, just walked around for a bit

The younger lads were the most impressive really, looking to show the manager what they can do I guess

how tall is jay spearing, he looks like a tiny potato man, masch was towering over him when they were warming up

Except when he had to, you know, defend...
Did you see that header in the 1st half that almost gifted Lucerne a goal?

Pacheco(sp?) looks a good prospect from the game and a half I've seen him play and at 17 looks like being one for the near future.  Rafa could have a decent punt on him in a few lesser games if things aren't going our way this season.

Plessis impresses me the more I see him. His first time ball control for such a big lad is top notch and I think that should Alonso go and Barry not arrive we may see a fair bit of him in the opening games of the season whilst the Olympic players are away.

I have to say that Deggen looked feckin useless at defending and not much better going forward. Undeniably the lads got pace but no end product there. It may only be early but I just can't help but think, what does Rafa see in these free signings other than the £0 price tag?

He might look ok to you going forward but does he know how to get back quick enough

im not slatin him as i class this as just a good training session but hes gone forward to create what? i havnt seen him put a cross in yet

You have to remember that the guy has been out for a really long time through injury and this was his first start in months.  It's was also very hard for him to do any meaningfull runs, because that right side was very congested and it was difficult for him to opperate on it.  Degen really needs more game time before I would judge him, that's what preseason is for.

It looked too much a practice match, little through balls attempeted in and around the area, like Arsenal do but with us doing it in a pre-season friendly against a poor defence.

And why are we not seeing more of the first team? Don't they need fitness?!?!?!? Gerrard isn't tired from the Euros, Reina wasn't Spain's keeper, Alonso was a sub for most of it and not very many of our players did play.

Interesting to hear Rafa saying he wasn't thinking about transfers post-match, cutting it a bit fine. Thought the five pundits were talking a bit of tosh, "none of the big four have made a big signing yet". Well maybe not noteworthy to them, but there's been a few (in as well as out) - BOSINGWA, DECO Dossena, NASRI, and you could count Cavalieri and/or even Aaron "wonderwelk" Ramsey. Either which way that's a fair few million spent between those three clubs and they've been far from quite. Unless the five pundits were expecting each club to buy six or seven players of Ronaldinho note in order to catch the mancs, they didn't exactly cruise to the title

Pacheco played well but I think he'll struggle against Premiership defenders, it was rather pointless as we'd have been forced to look for crosses from wide etc had they not been so poor defensively. As it was we were far from great offensively
Never buy from PC World, product quality is poor and their 'customer service' is even poorer

To be fair, he looked poor in the second half as well  :D  I though Charles Itandje was back.

I thought Jay Spearing looked lively when he came on, he showed some good touches and was always lively.
