My thoughts

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I think we played a good game. Cisse looked dangerous and Baros looked sloppy. Like I said, Baros won't be scoring anytime soon if he doesn't realize that he needs to improve. Everytime he had the ball he lost it, the shots he took on goal were blocked and he created nothing. This is why Owen is a better player than Baros, one touch and one goal is what we needed.

The team played well for the most part. I think Biscan should had started but whatever. Gerrard playing good as always, we should had gotten a penalty but things don't always go your way. Josemi looked sharp but made a couple of fouls he shouldn't had. Carragher,Riise and Hyppia did a good job, I was impressed by their performance.

However our 12th player made a mistake. The 12th player is Rafa of course. He took Cisse off way too early, he pulled a GH on us, this is what GH would had done which ended up costing us three points but one point is better than nothing.

Baros needs a wake up call, because if he doesn't start playing well, we will be only seeing Cisse score.

Overall team performance: 7.7/10

That is very sensible post, absolutely well said AB!

That's why I am satisfied with the team and it is important to get a point away from home.

I do agree what you said about Baros, but it doesn't make him a failure after he played poor game. Just give him more time.

I don't want to sound too much like a critic so I'll be patient. Its better to have a draw then lose our first game. After all this was an away game. Baros hasn't gotten the hang of controling the ball quite well yet but I'm sure he will improve in the games to come.

Second half we dropped back and let tottenham attack us, this needs to be sorted out, im fed up of watchin Liverpool sit back on leads. Good point on BAros too mate, but he will come good.

Im not making excuses but Cisse needs time to fit in, the pace maybe was a bit too fast for him, and second half i didnt see much of him, tottenham have played 12, yes 12! pre season matches so maybe they were alot fitter than us?
He comes from Spain and he doesn't speak good English,
But we don't care cos he'll turn us into winners,
The European Cup will be ours before he's finished,
Raaaaafaa Benitez!

Baros will improve, give him time.

As for RB, the big mistake he did was bringing Pongolle on for Cisse. Pongolle looks lost. He has to improve a lot to continue to play for us. Diouf would have done much better than pongolle, we have to bring him back, if we are not goint to buy a striker.

Exactly. We settled for one goal and thats not good, not in the EPL league. I think Rafa has realized now that EPL and La Liga are totaly different. Tactics don't always work, it backfired on him.

Cisse didn't get much to do since he was substituted in the 50 ish minute.

The fella is a full international, don't you think he should have "gotten the hang of controlling the ball " (as you put it ) by now ?
Happy to see him given some more games but in his entire LFC career so far he has still to convince me he is the man for us .

He's an international player but can he do the same for the club. He seems to be sloppy with the ball.

i don't think Baros was sloppy. He's good at close ball control . Just think he was impatient in some occassions. He could have controlled the ball low but opted for high ball to surge forwards, but didnt work.  :;):

Yes, Baros seems to be trying to do so much. Maybe he is still trying to impress RB. If he was a little more composed, he will get back to his euro form.

Nobody expected him to top score there, but he did it. So he has to take it easy and not to put himself in too much pressure.

Maybe its time to give Diouf a chance in his PROPER position since we are so short on strikers. Maybe he would prove his moneys worth up front were hes supposed to play!

I am afraid that Diouf's reputation precedes him. Although i think he deserves another chance.

1 thing is for certain, pongolle cannot afford to have another game like this. The fans will turn on him.
