Hope this helps.

Thank you!!!! :bowdown

Better late than never Andy

First of all, some bad news.

The Jaztell Routers are a load of cráp, and you might not have a connection outside your room or further than 5m away. See this devastating report about it
HG536 coverage problem. The broadband companies are really shíte here as you can see.

Disclaimer 1) Ok, I've been reading the manual of your comtremd router and you might not need the crossover cable after all (but anyway it's always handy to have one, especially if the bridging method doesn't work).

Disclaimer 2) What we're going to do is to use your router as a bridge to the cable modem

Disclaimer 3) To do this we're gonna make changes to the router config. And after those changes your router will become "unvisible" for your computer, it won't be a router any more, but just a way for your computers to reach the cable modem. So how will you able to config again the router if we mess up something? By pressing some seconds with something pointy a little hole in the base of the router. That will reset it to the first day status.

Instructions:

1) In a comtrend like yours, you should be able to reach the configuration by using a web browser and typing

http://192.168.1.1

The login is typically admin, and the password is typically admin

2) If everything is right, you should be in the configuration menus, you go to the proper menu:

Advanced Setup > Wan > Edit > Next and in Connection Tipe section we have to change an option:

Image

That is, you select bridging, and "LLC/SNAP-BRIDGING" in the encapsulation mode.

3) You accept the options and reset the router

4) You connect with a normal RJ45, from the LAN1 of your router, to the Cable modem. (actually you can do that first of all)

If your MAC is configured to take an IP automatically, I think that should do it mate.

Do not get frustrated if it doesn't work the first time around ok? it's normal. Send me feedback when you have time.

:)

Ask for a threesome with the two of them.

That should sort it.

Can anyone tell me how to solve the following problem ?

I have been trying to log on to the Internet using my usual bowser ( Firefox ) but I keep getting this message ...........

Redirect Loop

Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.

The browser has stopped trying to retrieve the requested item. The site is redirecting the request in a way that will never complete.

* Have you disabled or blocked cookies required by this site?
* NOTE: If accepting the site's cookies does not resolve the problem, it is likely a server configuration issue and not your computer.

As far as I know I havent disabled or blocked cookies so I dont know what else to check ?

Can you provide the link either publicly or privately so that I check if it's just you or anyone would have the same problem first? Or is it with any site?

If you know for sure others can log in, it will do aswell.

Ok, I have a Spanish firefox but, let's see if you find this option (I'll guess the translation)

You should have a menu bar on top of firefox, and one of the options should be TOOLS.

Within this menu, you should have an option in the properties, called OPTIONS.

In the Window that opens, select the "Privacy" option, it has a "lock" and a "forbidden" image in that tab.

Check you have cookies selected, but, in the options you have about how long those must be accepted, select instead of "permanently" the optioN "Until Firefox is closed". Then close firefox completely, and reopen it. Once you start working normally again, you can select back the normal option.

If what you see isn't similar to what I'm telling you, tell me where you're stuck.
