He has done good since moving that the postion , 11 goals in total for the season , with 7 assist in the premier league and not too sure about the champions league , plus he adds that little something extra that you don't normally get from players in that position , excellent work rate and attitude , if we don't sign a right winger this season , i think kuyt has earned at least 1 more season in that role before we decide if he has done good or bad and deserves to be sold or is a squad player at best or one to start in the 11

He's a striker that was converted to play the wing area? Come on, I think we've all noticed that. But he his a natural winger, he's got the talent and qualities for it. He doesn't have the homosexual flair that certain other wingers have, but he's still a top quality wing player

Played well again today, he actually looked like quite a tricky winger, he went passed 2/3 players 3 times in the last 10 minutes, i dont know when he came on was watching the other game mostly, what a difference a bit of confidence makes through, lets hope he comes back on a high.
Dont judge a book by the cover, unless you cover just another, because blind exceptance is a sign,

I think he's probably a yard or 2 off the pace for the PL (particulary on the RW), there is no doubt he
is a quality player, I would like to see him given a chance as a SS playing behind Torres.

And like Peter Crouch he'll miss it.................. which is why he's on the wing and Crouch is on the bench

Also why Kuyt has 2 assists and a goal in 150 minutes for his national team. Right?

put your hands up for dirk kuyt..........................i love that player,

good enough for the best national team in europe, then
good enough for the best club team in europe.

to be a class winger why does he need to conform to stereotype?

if he scores enough goals, creates enough chances & tracks back well then whas the big deal?

Some fair questions there IRRF.

As you say he is playing for the best national team in Europe. I havent watched his performances in europe, but are they much better than his performances for Liverpool ?

If he is in the form of his life for Holland as some make it sound, he has to take that form, make it permanent and then switch it accross to the Red men.

Not all wingers need to be stereotyped. I have been pretty impressed with him out wide for us in the remaining months of the domestic season. He seemed to of gained confidence playing out there as the burden for scoring upfront was heavily weighing him down, thats how I look at it.

Thing is though its not a stereotype thing but if Kuyt could chip in with 10-15 goals a season out there. Then for me he'd probably be an ideal solution, as we know he work rate is top notch and will track back all day long. If he can't get a decent amount of goals from that position add on the fact he doesnt really give fullbacks headaches with his pace and trickery then I dont think its enough for team with title aspirations.

From watching him last season in a red shirt he looks a good squad signing. And I'd keep him for that unless a ludicrous amount of money was pffered for him by another team, and by ludicrous i mean 12 million  :D . Maybe Rafa will give him another go from the off next season out wide, if he chips in with the goals and offers a threat then I'm all for it, but knowing what I know of him, sadly I wont hold my breath.

he is playing well but in a good team, playing expansive fast flowing predominatly counter attacking football

and yes his confidence is sky high,

as for being in "the form of his ife" i don't think so, as in the dutch league he was devestating

I firmly believe that his good showing in the euro's is the result of a good second half of the season for us.

I mean would Van Bastan have picked him to play in that position at all if he hadn't played there & done well for us?

He's also keeping some good dutch players out of the team.

Finally i think it may have been touched on earlier but....

FACT - if he didn't play for us then those fans who have seen his performances in the euro's would be clammering to heap praise and want to sign him (as in the current hype aound the slightly Overated lightweight David Villa)

Admittedly I would snatch anyones hand off that bid over £7million for him, as I don't think he is the long term answer to any of of our problems.

my my... i'm glad you will not be replacing rick parry anytime soon...

Why not try debating the points rather than just posting stupid smilies and silly comments?

And Mrs Kuyt is expecting the 3rd one. According to national Dutch newspaper she is 16 weeks pregnant.
That might explain his form before these 16 weeks  :Oo:

Anyway, he's doing great at this moment, hope he'll continue his form in the prem.

yeh kuyts has been more like the player when he first came 2 us, not prolific but a great footballer

2 be fair 2 him when he was gettin slated left right & centre 4 his poor performances (guilty) he was struggling with the recent death of his father.............the switch 2 the right seemed 2 give him a fresh start 4 us & id be more then happy 2 c him stay now
