Martin O'Neil has always been a favourite of mine ever since he managed Leicester City & all the bad blood created by the current Barry transfer is regrettable. I was at both Liverpool Villa games last season & on both occasions the Aston Villa manager clapped the Liverpool support, this in the future seems unlikely which is a shame because there seemed to be genuine respect between the two.
Although the acquisition of Barry seems imminent I for one feel that Liverpool went about this in the wrong way & will end up paying over the odds because they have upset the opposing club.
Our current stance seems to be to inform the player before his club which is wrong. My mind goes back a few seasons to when Chavski wanted Gerrard & how much bad feeling was posted on here. I have nothing but respect for O'Neil & believe we will have much depleted resources because of our approach. In the future I hope we will learn from this & do things the right way.
