I tried watching the 'terminator' series, from what people on here said about it, TBPH I found it very chessy and a big pile of tosh. :D

As if three Terminator films wasn't overdoing it they make a series about it. What they could have done is make a film based in the future when the machines were on the point of wiping out humanity, but then why do something that clever and complex when you can base it on the current day and save a bundle on special effects etc. I've not been tempted once to watch it, the trailers put me right off.

And it's just exploiting the popularity of Terminator, they run the risk of overkill just like when they ressurected BSG and other old series.

Love it when people criticize stuff they haven't even seen. Maybe you should change your name to mary whitehouse ?

For the record, the "Sarah Conner Chronicles" cover a period that was never explored in the terminator films . Sure it's exploitation of the success of the films but if Sci Fi action is your thing and you enjoyed the terminator movies this is certainly a well produced, acted and crafted show that it definitely worth watching.

I take series any day over T3 though that may have something to do with Lena and Summer (curse my shallowness)

Yeah, it looks intriguing, mate, although I didn't notice the Dawson's Creek guy.  Oh well, we could have said the same about Lost when it started: it's got the guy from Party of Five in it...gay. :D

Just had a look around and don't think it's being aired here on any of the channels I get.  I guess I'll wait for the DVD release in August.

Struggling to find stuff worth watching, there must be stuff out there somewhere.

Not doing a poll but in a search for stuff i might have missed do us a favour and list your top three tv series over the last couple of years .

My personal faves have been

Dexter
The Shield
Deadwood

Dexter's in my top three as well, Woof.  Lost you're already watching, of course.  My other would deffo be the new Battlestar Galactica--gritty vibe, great acting, moral quandries galore, amazing special effects and fit women...perfect! :nod  For more quirky Sci-Fi I'd recommend Firefly, and Arrested Development was one of the smartest comedies I've seen on US network television in some time.  I also like the American version of The Office--or at least I did until this season.  I think you'd get a particular kick out of Creed Bratton's character, Woof. :nod

Note that most of these faves are a few years old now.  There's been a definite lull of late.

I'm with you on that one. Recently I've just been watching the whole series' of the X-Files online, including the last two seasons of it, which I never watched first time round because I felt the series went badly downhill after the end of season 7.

It's hard to get my head round the fact that it's been almost 16 years since I watched the pilot. I practically grew up watching it, and nothing has been anywhere near as good since it went off the air. Some of the best episodes were better than most films these days. I find that Fringe from JJ Arbams to be billed as the "new X-Files" as a little bit of a joke, because nothing will ever be the new X-Files unless Mulder and Scully are in it. In fact, the only new X-Files there will be is if it comes back onto the air. To try and emulate it is just a massive fail waiting to happen. The show didn't last 9 years for nothing.

LOL snap did the same thing myself earlier in the year. Loved the X-files but gave up on it after series 7 when it had jumped the shark. I actually didnt mind the last two series so much as the years had softened my attitude and it was good to see new ones.

As for  3 favs in recent times

Rome
Lost
Battlestar Galatica

^^^^ Really :censored: that Rome only lasted two seasons I thought it was good and was really looking forward to seeing Octavian becoming Augustus and seeing what his reign will be like. I am watching the Tudors now, but its just a LOT slower and less interesting.
