I read this after the BBC series but its still a cracking book.

From what ive read so far a very gripping read. Recommend it to anyone.

Always enjoy a good Robert Ludlum* book. Never anything too heavy (unlike some of the encyclopaedias that are being recommended on here :laugh:

)but a good way to spend a couple of hours sat on a beach somewhere with a cold beer.

If your into Ludlum's books but are looking for something along the same lines then I can't recommend Lee Child's books enough. I've read about 4 or 5 of his upto now and I'm currently 2/3s of the way through one called Tripwire.

I'm reading a cracking book at the moment, its called 'Marching powder'.

A true story about a drug trafficker who gets caught trying to smuggle five kilos of coke out of Bolivia. The fella caught, his name is Thomas Mcfadden and believe it or not is from Liverpool-England.

The book is a true account of his time in a Bolivian prison named San Pedro, this prison is pretty much different to any other prison in the world. You have to pay an entrance fee to get into the prison as a prisoner. And you have to BUY your own cell. Resturants and shops are set up in this prison by the inmates, and people can come and go as they please, providing you have a little money to bribe the officers with. And of course Bolivias best quality coke is produced here, in laboritories at night, and alot of the poorer inmates are addicted to the chemical based -base.

One Bolivian inmate is so f.ucked up from his addiction to drugs, that once he has a hit from his pipe. He pulls out a knife and cuts himself, drawing blood. This prevents his paranoirer (?) kicking in, and the pain of the cut knocks him out of the state of paranoirer. The bloke is covered in scars needless to say. And the loacl prison cat is also addicted to Base.

F.ucking great book, recommend it to anyone.

Bamaga, can you tell me the writer? sometimes titles of books are not directly translated, the plot seems interesting, and I'd like to find that book in my language, if available.

Rusty Young.

He was an Australian lawyer who had heard about McFadden over in the Bolivian jail, and visted him and stayed with him for a few months in the prison, he wanted to write Thoms McFaddens story.

I've only just started the book, but you know when you pick one up and read it, you just know its gonna be good and interesting , I like reading about that kind of stuff anyway.

just read darkly dreaming dexter and dearly devoted dexter by Jeff Lindsay. These are the books the series is based on (first one is first series, apparently the second series doesnt go the same way as the books) about the serial killing forensic analyst, and the books are absolute class!!!

also read the bone collector,. much better again than the nmovie and first in a series of books starring the quadroplegic (sp) detective and his feisty female helper

Been reading "Hidden Messages in Water" after someone recommended it.

It only cost £3 on amazon, and I can see why.

Halfway through this one:

Now ive seen the film but reading the book (which of course is miles better) I got to wondering, why do they always change whats in the book? Unnecessary changes. Now I can understand some changes as it would take up more time in the film to explain so some changes are needed to cut the time for the viewers, however some directors make changes from the book for the sake of making changes. Anyway, back to the book. Excellent read, I got so engrossed that, for anyone who has read it, while reading the fight between nettie and wilma almost made me ill !

Got an excellent fathers day gift as well:

Really looking forward to reading this one.
