Jack Ainsley from Ipwhich. Looks a promising forward and Ipswich are well known for producing decent players from their youth. Apparently he idolised Alan Shearer as a lad and alot of his game is similar to Shearer's. Stocky, good in the air, physical but also with a quick burst of pace and a real eye for goal.

Young Keeper to Mark U-21 International Debut?
May 12, 2008 (5 hours ago)   •   426 views   •   By fowlergod9

Aussie under-23 squad manager has included Liverpool goalkeeper Dean Bouzanis for this month’s Intercontinental Cup in Malaysia.

Bouzanis comes in at the expense of Central Coast Mariners goalkeeper Danny Vukovic who has been banned for nine months.

The young half-Greek, half-Australian keeper has been included as a player in the provisional 21-member-squad and is expected to play against either Nigeria, Ireland, Iraq or the host Malaysia

I think its a ploy so that he wont play for Greece, I think he had recently played some youth games for them or was thinking about it or something. Still really good for a 17 year old to be with 20 and 19 year olds even if it just is Australia :p

from his wiki page (which is pretty large for a 17 year old reserve team keeper) :

Despite playing for the Greek team Bouzanis is still currently eligible to play for either the Greek or Australian full international sides[14][4][15] Bouzanis has given three reasons why he might choose Greece "First, due to my origin; second, because it's the European champion; and third, because the trips won't be too far." however he is also in contact with Australian football authorities.[4], the Australian press have stated that his departure would be a "disaster"[14] likening it to the loss of Joey Didulica to the Croatian national side.[16]

After keeping a clean sheet for the Greece under-19 team on the 11th March 2008 in a 1-0 win against Serbia, Dean made a statement to the Greek Football Association (the EPO):

''The team is very good, with good strength and technical qualities. The most important thing, however, is that we are bound together as a team and that we all want to be distinguished. The work being done with the National Team is very important, and I believe that in the qualifying stages for the Euro-19 Championship we will show our worth, and progress to the finals." [17] - Dean Bouzanis

It has been reported that Bouzanis would like to play for the Olyroos - the Australian Olympic team - in the 2008 Olympics. In April 2008 he was called up to the Olyroos (Australia U23) as part of there preparations for the olympic. [18]

at the start of last season we signed so many new youngsters....

i thought this was a real masterstroke and a move in the right direction snapping up the brightest stars in europe at 15, 16, 17, 18 years of age for cheap prices....

any news of such movement again this season ?

if so is there any potential youth stars we are linked with ?

as our reserves did the business in the league and national titles i feel that we need to continue this method of grabbing the youngsters early and develop them at the club so that we have a large pool of talent every season who will force their way into the first team when they are capable and can really give us momentum for the future and keep us up the top ranks which will i hope give us the future we deserve - 1st in the league :)

i think its important we dont stop purchasing these young stars and be very active when we spot the brightest talents.

Rafa did say that we're after 2 young South Americans.  I'm sure they're for the youth academy.

European Title for Liverpool Midfielder

If there's any doubting as to why Rafael Benitez keeps on looking at Spain not only for first team players but also when it comes to picking players for the future then here is the reply: Spain 4 France 0.

That is the impressive result with which the Spanish U17s swept to the European title yesterday, one that equaled the best ever win in a final at this level. It was their second consecutive success and the sixth overall at this level of football, a sequence of results that England - who didn't even qualify for this tournament - can only dream of.

Given the unseemly scrap going on for John Bostock, the England U17 captain, who is refusing to sign a new contract at Crystal Palace in order to move to Tottenham Hotspur, and the millions being demanded by Cardiff for Aaron Ramsey, the wisdom of Benitez's strategy becomes increasingly apparent.

FIFA's attempts to force teams into fielding five local born players might change all that, but on talent and potential alone there really is no doubting as to where Liverpool should look. Even if, you would think, the academy should be operating in such a way as to produce players who are just as talented.

Of this latest Spanish squad Liverpool had one player, the highly rated Gerardo Bruna. The Argentine born midfielder enjoyed a good season for the reserves coming into his own later on during the season. In Turkey, Bruna only tasted action with a couple of substitute appearances during the group stages but the experience of being in such a successful group will prove to be invaluable for him.

Pacheco was on the fringes of making the team, he was involved in a lot of the training sessions. Still wondering how or why he didn't make it. I am sure they wanted to include Bruna so that he would lean closer to playing for Spain at the senior international level and not his native born Argentina.

ECCLESTON IN GOOD FORM ON US TOUR
Steve Hunter 20 May 2008
Nathan Eccleston was in good form during the Under-18s recent end of season tour to the USA when he scored three goals in as many games.
The trip to the USA has been a regular event for the Academy during the last three years, and as well as playing a series of friendly matches Hughie McAuley's side also gave coaching clinics for underprivileged youngsters.

The team played matches in Atlanta and South Carolina and won two out of the three games played.

Eccleston scored twice in a 3-0 win over a South Carolina University XI and was also on the mark during a 3-0 success against an Atlanta University Select team.

The only defeat came in their final game when two late goals gave Atlanta Silverbacks Under-23s a 2-0 win.

"It was a really good trip and a great experience for the young players," McAuley told Liverpoolfc.tv.

"It was great for us to put something back and help out our Academy coach Gareth Evans. Gareth has been doing some great work on behalf of the club and he has been helping develop the game of football in less disadvantaged areas of the USA.

"The Academy has been to the USA for the last three years at the end of the season and the trip is to essentially enhance and support the work our young coaches are doing there.

"We were made to feel very welcome and it's a real honour for the Academy to go to the USA."

Meanwhile from last season's Academy squad McAuley revealed that defender Mattone Awang, winger Ben Parsonage and striker Michael Collins have been released. Swedish midfielder Astrit Ajdarevic is still under contract as an Academy player but is currently looking for another club. Shane O'Connor and Michael Scott will stay on at the Academy next season as third year players.

Astrit is the only one that surprises me because he seemed to have good size and potential, good left foot, but I am guessing he saw the writting on the wall that it would be REALLLLY hard for him to ever take over Plessis or Spearing who have a large head starts on him and are only 2 years older, and are going to have a tough a time as it is breaking into the first team.
