Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Can only be good him coming back in, and thats in any capacity.
Maybe after his time at Bolton (the set piece specialists) he can help us score more goals from set pieces, we score hardly any goals from them throughout the season.

His Spanish is much better than Aldo's or most English that have been abroad.

You can hear him in a recent interview that was posted here

http://es.youtube.com/watch?v=yR8EU8UaHZo

(it's 3 parts subbed in english, easily found once you laod the first one)

In which, unlike Souness, he was very respectful of Rafa's ways. Did he know by then the interest of Rafa to join? If not, it's obvious Rafa liked the praises of Sammy Lee ! :)

It'll be great to have Sammy Lee back at our club.  He know the place inside out.  He did well when he was coaching at LFC before and I'm sure that he'll make a good number two. Give a few players a good kick up the backside.

Now I wonder, who did he have by far his most successful spell as assistant manager under? I hope that the constant mentioning of his name by people hasn't loaded up the dice of fate to the extent that we're about to become the new Bolton. Surely not   :;):

Sounds good to me, its not like a new AM will instantly improve us or make us any worse for that matter but imo he will deffo be a good guy to have around.I too think Abblet would make a good assistant to Rafa but i think he (Rafa) is happy with the important job he`s doing with the young talent looking to break though.
And for those who say he`s a kak manager he never had a chance at Bolton he wasnt really backed by the chairman who gave him the job no doubt thinking it could save him a bob or two, he brought in Guthrie on loan who im sure Bolton fans would admit has been a good player for em. I also think its credit to the man that he tryed to get them playing proper footy, though the fact they prefered the more direct method told in the end.

Sammy is a good coach but I don't think he will make a good A.Manager. I heard he is very much a yes man (which maybe what Rafa wants?) but not what I think Rafa needs. I think we could have done better, but perhaps the fact that he can speak Spanish and is learning English clinched it for him. :D

At least Rafa won't be worried about his assistant getting his job.

I am not convinced it's the best option. I've no time for Yes men, if that's what he is. Granted he was a star player ìn the past...
BUT...
I've said it here before : I firmly believe Rafa should patch up his differences with Paco Ayesteran and get that man back...

Seems to me like a backward step as weve been down this road before with Lee.

There will have been many excellent football people who would have jumped at the chance of the job and maybe brought something new to the table so we can only assume Benitez does not welcome that.

Thing is I am not sure what difference the appointment will make and how it is going to improve performance.

We could use a different angle on things and not sure Lee will bring that or if its welcomed infact.
