1- McVeigh was a decorated and highly capable soldier. Building a bomb and hiring a truck was no problem for someone like him.
2- He didn't act alone. Terry McNichols (another US army veteran) was convicted of manslaughter for his role in the bombing and given a life sentence. Michael Fortier was also convicted of failing to warn the authorities about the bombing and sentenced to 12 years in prison (he was released two years ago).
3- The daycare center was open. Nineteen children were killed.
