i wish it would be sooner rather than later.too many distractions for the players with all this goin on.
its not the chilli sauce on kebabs that give you ring-sting, its the actual meat. had one without chilli, and still had ring-sting. the chilli's only there to mask the nonsense they stuff inside that bread.

Looks like it is done then...well 10 mill for a player with 10 months left is not bad I guess but if he has signed it could have been 3 times that...oh well

Just seen this on ITV. Even Carra thinks he's going :(

Carragher won't blame Owen
Liverpool, Thursday August 12 2004
Jamie Carragher says Michael Owen can hardly be blamed should he complete his move to Real Madrid.

The Liverpool striker is reportedly on the verge of joining the Spanish giants, despite complications to a proposed transfer on Wednesday night.

Real were apparently keen to offer £10million plus either Fernando Morientes and Samuel Eto'o.

But the latter has since signed for Barcelona, while Morientes is cup-tied after playing in the Champions League.

Nonetheless, a move for Owen could still be on the cards, and Carragher says he sees why the 24-year-old would want to leave.

"I can understand a team like Real Madrid turning someone's head," he said.

"They would turn my head if they came in for me. You cannot have a go at the lad for thinking about moving on, it is a special club.

"But I play for special club too now and so does Michael, and he realises that. But you look at Real Madrid and they are the one special club in the world.

"Obviously I would love him to stay, but if he did go I would have a go at the club (Liverpool) because of the club (Real Madrid) that are involved."

Liverpool showed in their 2-0 Champions League qualifying win against Graz AK that there is life after Owen, but Carragher is still hopeful they can persuade the striker to stay.

"We would obviously love Michael to stay because he is one of our top players," he added. "He has been our main goalscorer for the last five or six years and we would be disappointed to lose him.

"While he has been here he has been outstanding. He single-handedly won us the FA Cup and was European Footballer of the Year.

"He's not gone yet so there is hope that he will stay. He is a difficult player to replace, but we have just signed the top scorer in France (in Djibril
Cisse) and we have the top scorer in Euro 2004 (Milan Baros), so we have great competition up front."

Even though Morientes will be cup tied, he should still be included in the deal (what with eto going to barcelona). 10 million cash alone for Owen is nuts. Diouf & Heskey each cost more than that.

Quite agree, and as I've said elsewhere, for £10m, we'd be better off playing him all season, let him go for free if he wants (and then he can see what he'll be leaving behind)>

Is it?

I don't know myself. As pointed out above Heskey and Diouf cost more than £10M. Keep Owen and play him in the reserves (or loan him out to Wrexham), what big teams would sign him, if he hasn't been playing at highest level for a year!

Where would that then leave him?

But also (fingers crossed) there is the possibility he may just sign a new contract.

The reason why Diouf and Heskey cost so much is because mistakes made by some idiot named Houllier.

What a mess. I can't believe after 1 year, nothing has been done. It is still the same senario......no contract signing. How can the board have allowed this, knowing what happened with mcmanaman.

It seems that board is now trying to get rid Owen because he does not seem to committed to us. Isn't this too late? He wasn't really committed last season, should have tried to sell him then.

because....
they were making every effort to sign him. he was saying he was gonna sign aswell. its mainly his stalling which has caused this. i believe the board really thought he'd sign.
naive on their part, but owen should have just signed, the little t**.   why was he holding out for more money? he's f***** broostied as it is.  if its cos he wouldnt get much signing on fee why he would nt sign, well thats also greedy.he should have signed so if he wanted to go we wouldnt have to be forced into selling him on the cheap so he wouldnt go free.
