Insua??? Please...

Leo Messi would be Ideal, however we're Liverpool so its unrealistic. The fact is its got to stop being unrealistic.

Imagine him on the left with Gerrard on the right.

Toshack hasn't hesitated to give stick to Rafa. He comments that it's a bad idea to go to the lion's cage and pull the lion's tail.

But, more relevant to this thread, Toshack thinks that it won't be easy the task of finding a proper partner for Torres. According to Toshack, not only Crouch and Voronin has failed to be, but also Aguero and Kezman -- which is a fact.

According to Toshack Torres is a lone striker, one striker to play with an attacking midfielder behind him. Thoughts?

To be fair, who has Kezman played well with since his days at PSV? And Voronin's plain :censored:. Crouch hasn't been given enough of a chance, and deserves much more.

Ideally and hopefully not unrealistic, I'd like to see:-

A quality left midfielder - Ronaldhino
A quality striker - Berbatov or Villa would be nice
A quality right midfileder - Quaresma, Bentley possibly

Also it would be nice to get a quality right back- and a quality left back, but I feel that could maybe wait till next season.

I would sell

Voronin
Kuyt
Pennant
Carson
Kewell (free)

Also maybe a cheeky Riquelme bid would be nice if he was under 5 million.
This slightly blows my theory in another post but as possible behind Torres as back-up or alternative option to Gerrard in the new formation

gerrard and torres cant do it on their own as they have this season. they need the rest of the midfield to chip in. keane from spurs would be ok and if 4 or 5 of this seasons draws were turned into wins we would be in with a sniff of the title.

Riquelme would not fit in Liverpool. Great player but not here.

Top priority imo should be a quality right winger that can score, and a attacking fullback.

We certainly need a right and left defenders which can also attack ,we need a creative attacking midfielder and another striker.

I would love to see Man City Bulgarian (Petrov?) join us ,Maxi Lopez is a great striker also.

We have too many average players we need to drop:

Arbelloa
Insua
Riise
Lucas
Aurellieo
Veronin

Regretfully i would also drop Alonso ,Pennant ,Kewel and Skertel (if Agger is alive?), all those players gave us good runs but not consistent enough and just not enough quality we search in a runner up for premiership title.

Ricardo Quaresma would be fantastic in the Liverpool squad, If he takes his chances he'd score 15+ a season. He'd proberly assist bagfulls aswell.

His name was mentioned heavily last year, and i belive (if i remember correctly) porto rejected an offer of around 13mill, then there were speculation that Liverpool matched the 20mill asking price, but nothing came of it.

If thats true (and who am I to argue with Tosh) I would suggest we go for two goalscoring wingers. I still believe that someone intelligent (like Owen) could adapt and prove the perfect foil for Torres. Whichever way it works out, we still need a good striker as obviously Torres can't play every game, and I don't think Babel will reach the required level by next season.

Alternatively someone like Van der Vaart could be the solution, just been reading on another site that he wants to leave Hamburg and wouldn't cost the earth either. Only downside is he is a bit injury prone but would be a decent swop for Kewell.

Aimar? Yes hes in his or a little past his prime and injury prone, but anyone think its worth a gamble? We was linked with him in January. Just behind torres in a 442, or in 4231 where Gerrard is now and move Gerrard into the middle or on the right?

Mate had skrtel not got injured we would be in the CL final, Insua has yet to be given a run, Lucas is a youngster ( Brazil international ) just learning the ropes, Alonso is class and before Aurelio got injured he was looking like the best left back we`ve had in a long while but yer feck it get rid their all sh!t sign Petrov and Lopez.... Whatever :sleep

Lucas is a youngster so what? so is Nani and Andersson ,didn't show any particular skill worth keeping him.

Insua just the same ,i'm looking for potential not for results can't find it in this lad ,compare him to babel which didn't have a great year but no one can argue on his potential.

Aureillo the Best LB we had? ok so? is he good enough for us? he hardly support the offence he is slow ,yes he can shoot the ball ,again so what? not good enough.

Alonso is class i agree ,the question is if we are looking to take one step higher ,we will need to release some of our class players ,Alonso for me is less crucial then the others.

This is what Liverpool need next season.

1- When leading 1-0 against what most would consider a weaker team, try to finish them off by scoring another goal.

2- When defending a 1-0 lead, try not to mentally switch off and allow the opposition to score and reduce three points to one.

3- When crossing a ball into the penalty area, don't "float" the ball but rather whip it across the six-yard box for teammates to head into the goal.

4- When receiving a pass from a team-mate, try controlling the ball first before doing anything else with it like making another pass, or heading it....nowhere, or trying to flick it to a team-mate.

5- Don't bother with flicks at all. It usually isn't worth it.

6- Don't bother with short corners either.

quality RB - Valencia, Borre, Rafinha, Bowsinger etc
quality LB -  Bale, Lahm etc
quality RW/AM - Bentley, Quaresma, Schwizenstiger, Silva etc
quality LW/AM - Mancini, Young, Barry etc
quality no.10 - Villa, Aguero, Diego etc

I dont think getting 5 top quality players is beyond us coz hicks has promised Rafa 30mill thats on top of the fact we have afew 10mill+ saleable assets & gillets gonna stump up some cash 2....................i could really c us spend 70+mill this summer

Youth - McCarthy, Ramsey etc
