Fitness - Chelsea better

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Big Niall » Thu May 01, 2008 2:48 pm

For the second year running, I thought Chelsea looked fitter than us. They just played a tough game a few days ago while our whole team(nearly) was rested.

I have no doubt that Chelsea are fitter.

Is this because they are naturally better athletes or due to training/diet?

Essien is a beast.

Dont know I think we were just as fit.

We ran to the end and didnt give up till the final whistle.

We can go round and round and blame the manager the players and the kitman but at the end of the day we cant win every game.

We were just shaded by a very good team.

Which just goes to show that for all this faith that rafa has in "squad rotation" and its benefits....is a load of b@llocks!....he rests 8 players against brum on saturday, while chelski play with a full squad against the scum, so you would think (as rafa would have us beleive) that we should have that little extra in the tank going into last nights game?.....well guess what rafa it was us who looked the more tired, especially in extra time....which proves that all this tosh about rotation is b@llocks!....play your best....and dont fukk with the rest!......thats always been the best system.....take a look at shankly's teams?. :nod

maybe,if you insisit.
fitness may be a point, but i still reckon skills is more crucial
have you found that in the midlefield we always lost ball
and even we control the ball, reds cannot give a perfect pass,of cause the defending of blues is perfect
if we have the arsenal`s skills and reds character, tonight would be another red day

Actually if you look at the stats we ran more than them in terms of distance covered. It was something like 115 km to 111 km.We might have tired but collectively we ran about 4 km more than them in the same game ie we worked harder but they might have had a little more quality than us. That was the difference. Lampards mom death seem to galvinise the team and I am sure Grant milked it for what it was worth.

Is it a case of us working too hard out of possession and them making us fight to get it back, while they stroke it about and we gift it back to them? Ever heard the expression 'make the ball do the work' ? I would be interested if black players are more generally durable for longer distances, you know how Ethiopians and Kenyans make good long distance runners................ Well our side is full of wimpy spaniards and Englanders.

Instead of typing on your keyboard, try picking it up and repeatedly hitting yourself over the head with it until you knock some sense in there.  :;):

When I player rugby I would be dead on my feet within five minutes of chasing the ball, but thereafter I could run for hours because I'd got past that barrier. Maybe I just pushed myself too hard early on.

I think its a load of bollox that Chelsea is fitter than us, Im with Kazza on this one, they were showing who ran the most in terms of distance and Mascha had the most Km covered.

We didn't lose because of our fitness, our fitness was fine, we lost because Chelsea were better than us on that day - FACT they had better wide players than we did and they had better full backs.
