One thing I am unhappy about is the way we seem to start flat in big games now. We used to start fast and fluent and with confidence, we seem to be very nervous now in big games - Especially when we play the mancs.

Seriously, what people are saying about rafa for that change is just stupid

look Rafa is going to say that Torres was hurt even if he was not.
he will rest him for a game now and then bring him back...
it was a wrong move at the wrong time and he needs to cover it up.

i know thats what i mean , it was such a luxury to play a player of his quality  in a position not as central as midfield........

You've only got to look at sami's reaction to see he knew it 100%. Ours when Sami went down wasn't unfortunately although I have seen them given to balance things up in the referees mind. I did think though we were denied a clear handball at the start of extra time when makeleli headed it onto his own hand, although I couldn't say if it was in the box or not. Alos with about 60 seconds left we should have had a corner and the non-award of that was the final nail in our coffin.

Agreed Bigmick, Hyppia knew.

1. Skrtel injury.
Very big impact on the game. Hyypia is not good enough and fast enough for these kind of games. We conceded only minutes after Skrtels injury.

2. Hyypia
Made a terrible terrible tackle. The ref was just waiting for an excuse to award a penalty and Hyypia made it easy for him. Also his passing and overall contribution was way way way off the standard required in a CL semi final. His days are long numbered.

3. Carra
Is he good enough for Liverpool? Great committment and a scouser through and through. But that don't make him a LFC solid. At fault on two goals today. Clearly destroyed the offside trap on 3-1 and let the team down on 1-0 (together with a unbelieavably horrible Hyypia). Terrible passing and creativity.

4. Rafa
Made clear errors with the substitution of Torres and with allowing Pennant to play and Kuyt to finish. Kuyt was no threath. Pennent has never produced anything against quality opposition and Torres should always play unless he has two broken legs.

5. Referee
Overall very good. Could have awarded a penalty for LFC. Should have added more time and given more yellow cards to Chelsea. Why not give a penalty for the foul on Hyypia. Suspicion of offside on Chelsea goal nr.1 .

Its annoying when all you hear on the lfc website is each player committing themselves to a 100% performance and failing miserably to do the simple things like pass a ball. When the essien goal was disallowed you would have thought the players would have made sure to up the performance to ensure that the good luck continued, however they didnt.

Needless to say when Kuyt was moved into the central striker role he barely touched the ball and it made it hard for us to really get a foothold.

Needless to say, this is a onesided view.
The strikers up front didnt receive any good pass at all.

Apart from his goal, Torres didnt do much up front either.

So stop the blame game.

No blame involved it was merely an observation. In fairness to Dirk I think the debate about whether he is a good enough striker, as in centre forward to prosper at Liverpool is practically over to be honest. That was then but this is now.

He has though done very well at right midfield (obviously tonight wasn't his best perforance but he has done very well) and I almost consider it playing him out of position these days when he gets shifted up top. Anyways, out of position or not he barely tocuhed the ball as centre forward and I didn't really expect any different to be honest.

Your comment about Torres which begins "apart from his goal" :D is an interesting one and suffice to say I don't agree with that.
