Hi All, I checked with Norton Anti-Virus, and they are gearing up for this virus!

I checked snopes.com, and it is for real!! http://www.snopes.com/computer/virus/postcard.asp

You should be alert during the next few days. Do not open any message with an attachment entitled 'POSTCARD,' regardless of who sent it to you. It is a virus which opens A POSTCARD IMAGE, which 'burns' the whole hard disc C of your computer. This virus will be received from someone who has your e-mail address in his/her contact list. This is the reason why you need to send this e-mail to all your contacts. It is better to receive this message 25 times than to receive the virus and open it.

If you receive a mail called' POSTCARD,' even though sent to you by a friend, do not open it.! Shut down your computer immediately.

This is the worst virus announced by CNN. It has been classified by Microsoft as the most destructive virus ever. This virus was discovered by McAfee yesterday, and there is no repair yet for this kind of virus. This virus simply destroys the Zero Sector of the Hard Disc, where the vital information is kept.

Believe it or not, Woof, I've already had this in my mail box. It acts as if it's been sent by someone on your list, or perhaps that's how it's spread anyway. I was actually trying to open it. Thank f*ck I couldn't. In fact, I'll check to see if it's still in my In Box.

in all seriousness, this could actually become a reality. research has been going on for some time into using the skin as a multi terrabyte data storage system. the moist salinity of the skin surface makes it able to carry an electrical charge which can be organised to store huge amounts of data. in the future it may be possible to shake hands to exchange details with someone instead of swapping business cards. of course, there would be a million other usage possibilities and a whole new world for the porn industry.

I doubt the skin thing  :D

A computer is based on 1 and 0. Now it's being investigated -- needs to get stable -- the possibility of having those states at an atom level. If they succeed in that (Americans working hard, so are  japanese), it will mean that you will have ridiculously big storage capabilities in something the bare eye can't even see, much faster and bigger than current technology.

So I think that a tatoo that holds info might be possible at some point, but I doubt the bare skin will keep personal info with no device involved.

Well any message which doesn't open on its own, make itself completely at home and make itself a cup of coffee while I'm eating me cornflakes is completely beyond my comprehension anyway so I'm fairly convinced my computer is safe. Having said that, if these viruses make your computer go pisspotically slow and do completely baffling things on a fairly regular basis then I probably picked one up unwittingly about seven years ago.
As for the "postcards", I wouldn't read them anyhow. They'd like as not contain details of people which you've never heard of, suddenly "fat Dave" from the pub is talking about "and of course Felicity is still well into her gymnastics" when you've never even heard mention of the bird, least of all met her. It's always a dead giveaway when youn think "feck me, it's nice of Sue to send me a message after all this time" only to discover in the top bit that she's sent it to every single person she's ever met in her entire life.
