Calzaghe is good but beating a 45 year old won't prove anything.

No way Joe will lose to a black boy!

Before anybody gets p!ssed off about the above comment - it is a reference to Hopkins racist comments.

Anyone watch the Miguel Cotto fight? The man is a fantastic talent. Maybe a bit far but he has the potential to beat Mayweather , hes that good. Alfonso Gomez battled well but it was a mis match if there ever was one. Cotto felt sorry for him you could see it, lessening off hitting him , cos if he wanted he could of won anytime in the fight. He was trying new things, knowing there was no way he would lose, but there was no cockyness about it, strange as it seams. Him and Mayweather would be a great fight.

I missed that one but not being funny like but how the hell did  Gomez get a fight against Cotto not in the same class . It must have had something to do with Sugar Ray Lennard that Gomez was on the first contender programme.

Mayweather has now become a joke what the hell is he doing getting into a wrestling ring shameful for a fighter with his talent . Surley hes not skint .

Id like to see that fight and i reckon maybe Cotto could beat him

Gomez got the fight probably becuase he beat a washed up Gatti to a pulp in either his last fight or one of them.
Didnt see the Cotto fight but me mate said it was a total mis match.
Sky plussed Woods fight and watched it yesterday, he got a lesson and couldnt get close enough to cause Tarver any problems. It was a shame but he just wasnt anywhere near good enough.
The Glenn Johnson-Chad Dawson fight on the undercard was a cracker though, even though i thought Johnson got robbed, i suppose he is not as marketable as the younger fighter now.

I saw woods get a boxing lesson from Roy Jones many years ago - he was never at the highest level.

Calzaghe is good but upto a year ago had fought nobody but stayed in Wales to defend a WBO title.

He has two good wins on his belt - lacey and the last guy, I won't count Hopkins as a great win in the same way Trever Berbick isn't a legend for beating Ali in 1982.

I look forward to seeing how Khan progresses

Headed to Vegas on Friday morning and just secured some tickets to the Hopkins fight.  As much of a blow hard as he is, I have enjoyed watching him for a long time because he always has pounded people.  Looking for this to be a good match, even though both of them are a bit long in the tooth.

First time going to a big fight in Vegas, looking forward to the whole event.  Last title fight I went to was a Sweet Pea Whitaker fight here in my hometown.

Nanny, did you find a good spot to watch the Reds match when you were out there for the Hatton fight?

Its on at 3 am Nanny I have just got up for it, cant wait to watch it Hopkins must have payed John David Jackson a lot of money to train him how to fight a south paw, strange when he is the self confessed assasinator of south paws ? he is obviously worried about Calzaghe.

It is on Setanta sports 1

1st- Round to Hopkins, crashing Right sent Calzaghe to the floor and cut his nose, round to Hopkins for the knock down just shaded it.

2nd- Round I would just give to Calzaghe, got into his rythym and landed a few punches in a scrappy round, Hopkins moaning about a low blow

3rd- Round another scrappy round a few good exchanges but a lot of time spent holding, Cortez for some reason doesn't seem as eager to step in as he was with Hatton.

4th- Round Calzaghe starting to find his range now, Cortez steps in to warn both fighters but it looks like Hopkins is up to his old tricks, hitting while holding and after the break call by Cortez.

a close one to call at the moment Calzaghe is doing all the work but the early knock down puts him just behind on points by my reckoning.

Unofficial score 39-37 Hopkins

5th Round-Good right from Calzaghe best punch so far, Hopkins is starting to blow a bit even though Calzaghe is doing all the work, Hopkins staying on the outside making Calzaghe go to him so he can lead with his right. Again Hopkins carries on after the bell, Round to Calzaghe.

6th Round- Good left from Calzaghe, Hopkins responds with a head- butt ? Cortez does nothing ! Calzaghe putting the work in again, slowly clawing back the points he lost from the early knock down. Cortez finally has a word with Hopkins.

7th Round - Another close round, still all the work coming from Calzaghe, he needs to step it up to cancel out the early knock down. Another clash of heads followed by a right from Hopkins stunned Calzaghe just as the bell went, good late flurry of punches from Calzaghe to end the round.

8th Round- Hopkins is starting to look tired, he seems to be saving all his energy to load that big right hand shot up, Calzaghe still chasing but has to  be carefull he doesn't walk on to the right from Hopkins.

9th Round- Calzaghe looking the fitter of the two, throwing more punches but not really with any affect, Hopkins breathing heavy still and is happy to walk round the outside of the ring letting Calzaghe do all the moving. Hopkins just happy to hold at any opportunity to catch his breath. Calzaghe needs to step up in the last few rounds those American judges wont do him any favours, he needs a knock down of his own

10th Round - Hopkins claims another low blow, and goes down on his knees the soft tw@t, hes obviously trying to get a breather because he is looking really tired now. Calzaghe is dancing around and waving while Hopkins is still crying  Calzaghe is inviting punches now it looks like he knows Hopkins has no power left ? Risky !

Unofficial score card has it at 95-95, Calzaghes work rate can win him this IF he avoids the only punch Hopkins has got....the right hand !

11th Round- Calzaghes still doing all the work, Hopkins crying again about a rabbit punch from Calzaghe ! Hopkins AGAIN goes down claiming a low blow the sh!t bag knows he is going to lose. Hes getting angry and beckoning Calzaghe to come to him.

12th and final Round- BIG,BIG round needed from Calzaghe those bent American judges wont give it him as it stands despite Hopkins doing NOTHING since the first round knock down.Hopkins starting to fight back because he knows he has not done enough ( unofficial score Calzaghe by a round ) Good late exchange of punches. both carried on after the bell this is to close to call, IMO Calzaghe has done enough, its all down to the bent judges now
