Shoe on the other foot he would do exactly the same. It is not Liverpool's fault those teams are struggling down the bottom and they should try playing four games in twelve days, not that many teams have to. It's the luck of the draw, had we played Fulham twice already then would they be bitching? And were we playing Boro with a weakened side noone would give a sh 1te so why special dispensation just because of the mess some teams have gotten into.
Maybe if it were last game of the season and relegation circumstance meant we had to beat Fulham for Bolton to survive then fair enough. But even then our first XI might get beat or not care two hoots either. We didn't exactly play best XI against Reading and lost, did they complain then? And if so, do they moan when the mancs do it? Or Arsenal? Or Chelsea? Or BOLTON in Europe? But of course PILLWarnock doesn't care about that, not close enough to home and something he doesn't relate to. I've long maintained that most of the teams that get into the u wafer cup aren't strong enough to handle the extra fixtures, it strains the squad and any money made out of it needs to be invested on extra players so the squad can cope with it. If any of the wannabes did shake the top four they had better have a good squad because any progress would seriously test their resources. Of course these sides often aren't even used to (domestic) cup runs.
BUT the bottom line is we're not 100% sure of fourth and may even have one eye on third so we would very much like to win. It's not like we've tied up fourth and don't need a win, whoever goes out there today won't lie down and let Fulham win. If Fulham win it may be because we field a weakened side or it may be Fulham deserved it.
And if Bolton were chasing fourth or fifth they wouldn't complain if we weakened our side. The bitters across the park must hate the situation, they must want us to fail in Europe but know that the longer we're in Europe the more chance we'll play a weakened side domestically and therefore boost their slim hopes of finishing above us - worked in 2005 but the double edged sword means we won something they haven't ever and a trophy which they haven't won of any description in over a decade.
Others worrying about what side Liverpool put out is not the sign of a big club..................
