Arabs set to enterthe battle of Anfield

Hicks told Sky Sports News that his plan is to buy out Gillett and remove the debt he and Gillett loaded on to the club

Undeterred by the latest public outburst by Liverpool's co-owner Tom Hicks, the Arab consortium Dubai International Capital is ready to buy out his partner George Gillett within six weeks when a legal bar on the sale of his 50 per cent stake is lifted.

Just when it seemed that Hicks had no mud left to throw at the club's chief executive, Rick Parry, he redoubled his efforts to draw Rafael Benitez into the fight to remove him yesterday by claiming that Parry had spent "three or four hours" alone with Jürgen Klinsmann before a board meeting he and co-owner Gillett had called.

Hicks' interview, conducted at his home in Dallas, ranged from the vitriolic – he described Parry as a "disaster" – to the farcical. Wearing a Liverpool jersey and drinking from a club mug, he celebrated the 3-1 win over Blackburn Rovers by saying: "Well Everton won't like that."

But this will not deter DIC from a plan to take over Gillett's 50 per cent share in Liverpool – when pre-emption rights preventing the sale expire – enduring Hicks for as long as they must and then attempting to force Hicks out of the club by putting up money for Liverpool's new stadium and challenging him to do the same. They believe he will be unable to do so.

again i will ask you the question about which is more important to you, hicks out or the CL. iof you say its more important to get hicks out than win the CL then you know nothing about football or this club, if you say the CL is more important (which it is) then you will find yourself agreeing with me.

i will tell you which is the most important to me HICKS OUT  (which it is ) no hesitation at all if we lose the cl this club will still be LFC the club i love with all the philosophies and traditions and ways of doing things it aways has had. But if hicks stays all that will go out the window he will take all the money out of the club continue to make us a laughing stock in front of the whole world,. Players will want to leave , and new players will not want to come here. The very existence of the club is at stake here if you cant see that then YOU know nothing about football or this club!

question my support      been there and done it bob and will do it again before you even get anywhere near the ground. your problem is that you follow the most vocal on here to fit in with the crowd, yet you think i believe the opposite just to cause ructions, far from it bob, i never said i agree with hicks, i just feel the guy should be given a chance, after all in his first full season we are in the CL semis and have the pleasure of watching the best finisher we have seen since fowler, we have signed mash, we have money available this summer, we can get rid of parry (at last) yet you all seem to think the guy is an idiot (idiots do not become billionaires).

As a match going scouser for the 44 years of my life i must say that BOB shows so much more insight and passion than you and your pathetic attempts to play devils advocate to the huge majority of opinion of fans on here, disagreeing, ignoring the obvious, anything to try to be controversial and get a bit of attention. So you must think that RAFA must be given a chance seeing as " after all we are in the CL semis and have the pleasure of watching the best finisher we have seen since fowler, we have signed mash, " all down to rafa. But you seem to think this guy is and idiot (idiots dont win the C.L) and get to 3 semis in 4 years.

peewee
once again i will say it as some of you seem unable to read my posts without looking for something you can throw back to try and question my level of support, hicks needs to be a given a chance, there is no guarantee a new owner would be any better, is that clear enough now?

So rafa must be given a chance then as there is no guarantee a new manager would be any better is that clear enough now?

DUH

   duh.

seems we have differing ideas on passion mate, my club comes first, football comes first, and if hicks is such a bad influence on the club why are we in the CL semi, cant have it both ways mate.

as for rafa he has had 4 years and made the same mistake every year, whats the betting he will do exactly the same next year?

anyway i amazed that people still think the off field things affect the on field things

anyway i have made my point, sorry if it differs from others on here and question my support all you want, i know my passion and i know my reasons for various things. some of you need to remember what we are, and we are a football club, lets get that side right and stop looking elsewhere (hicks) for excuses

just like we have been out the title race before christmas the last 4 seasons mate because of his tactics, or are we blaming hicks for things that happened before he even bought the club? but i seem to recall man u and chelsea also being in the semi finals and still being in the title race, and one of those clubs has an american owner who borrowed money, seems like it cant always be the owners fault, he doesnt pick the team, he doesnt select the tactics, he doesnt give up 3-1 down to reading

it looks like rafa will be here next season, lets see if he has actually learnt from the last 4 seasons, if i am wrong i will hold my hand up, if i am right.............

at the expense of the league?

well it seems from our rivals both is indeed possible, just imagine being in the semis and in the title race, how nice will that feel? if you have followed for 44 years then like me you will remember that feeling, and its a great feeling rather than the current tedious run in battling for 4th so we can have another crack at the CL next season.

seems a lot of you guys have lowered standards

You seem to want to defend hicks regardless of the damage he has done whilst owning this club urging us to give him more time.
But you dont want to give rafa a manager who has shown total devotion and commitment to this club and achieved so much already the same time that it took fergie to win the premier.
shame on you

agree ciggy just trying to get  across to thicko the importance of getting rid of b@stard hicks cos if he stays much longer we will lose rafa and all hope of winning the premier in the not to distant future

i am not defending hicks, i am simply pointing out that too many people are using this as an excuse for our failings on the pitch, lets get the football right and lets give hicks a chance to prove himself. he has made money available for signings, he will make more money available, and i really don't see the point in trying to force him out of the club when he has made it clear he is not going anywhere, i dont see the point of everyone moaning about it on here, its not football and not part of the football side of the club.

rafa must be loving this as he has the fans on his side despite (in my opinion) letting us down again on the football side this season making the same mistake he has made the past 4 seasons

differing opinions here, thats all, i have mine and you have yours. people prattle on about supporting the club, well he owns the club so some of you need to practice what you preach

no need for name calling, and i hardly think extending rafas contract is getting rid of him
