POTENTIAL CL FINAL SELLING DETAILS
Liverpoolfc.tv 17 April 2008

Liverpool FC have released the following selling details for our potential Champions League final.
Potential UEFA Champions League Final
Luzhniki Stadium Moscow
Wednesday 21st May 2008 Kick Off 22.45 hrs (local time)

UEFA has informed the semi finalists that due to all supporters travelling to Moscow having to be in possession of a valid visa the Clubs have been instructed to announce the selling arrangements in advance of their team possibly reaching the Champions League Final. The reason for the instruction is to assist in allowing as much time as possible for the processing of visas, as at least one British Club will be involved in the Final match.

In the event of reaching the Final we have been advised that we will receive an allocation of approximately 21000 tickets which will include 50 disabled (wheelchair) and 50 personal assistants tickets.

Within the allocation approximately 4% of the tickets are priced at £167, 49% are priced at £117, 47% are priced at £67. The combined price for a disabled and a personal assistant's ticket will be £67.

Priority Rights Holders (Ex Shareholders)

The allocation and selling arrangements for ALL Priority Rights Holders will be as follows,

On holding
1 Priority Right - 1 (one) ticket
2 Priority Rights - 2 (two) tickets
3 Priority Rights - 3 (three) tickets
4 Priority Rights - 4 (four) tickets

The tickets available will be priced at £167, £117 or £67 and are offered AS AVAILABLE at the time of purchase.

The Ticket Office will only process applications by post or email.

Applications from qualifying Season Ticket and Fan Card Holders MUST be received by Wednesday 23rd April 2008.

We anticipate that these Season Ticket Holders will have just over an 80% chance in being allocated a ticket. In the event of the number of applications exceeding the balance of tickets a ballot will be held to determine the successful applicants.
Tickets are STRICTLY non-transferable. Liverpool FC has to provide details to UEFA on all tickets issued ie. Names and addresses of applicants along with their passport details which will correspond to the seat details on the tickets issued. Visas will be issued on this information.

PLEASE DO NOT APPLY TO BOTH THE TICKET OFFICE AND THOMAS COOK SPORT.

PLEASE NOTE:

All fans travelling either with or without a ticket NEED A VISA TO GET INTO RUSSIA.

If you dont have a visa they wont let you onto the plane. If you do arrive without one, they will send you straight back.

The problem as I see it, is if two Brit teams make it to the final and 80-100,000 fans go over, how can the Russian embassy issue all these visas in time - its simply impossible.

Note it says the visa will be issued basis the name and address and passport number provided at the time of buying the ticket so if you sell your ticket to a mate, he aint gonna get the visa based that ticket.

Be careful folks and make early enquiries at both the club or Russian embassy becuase if you have a ticket but no visa - you aint going to the game.

With all the politics going on at the club, I bet no ones made any special provisions........

Actually it is, if anything goes wrong this time UEFA have passed the blame early enough to the clubs so that they can point the finger at the finalists rather than themselves.

Nanny, no problem to get a visa from a Russian embassy in any other country, just that you will need one. Brits dont need a visa to go to Latvia, but they do to go into Russia so you will still have to produce one at the border.

I've been to Riga many times, a beautiful city with many pretty girls. The river freezes right across in winter. I once crossed into Russia at Narva in Estonia which is close to St Petersberg - but still needed the visa. Brits dont need a visa to get into Latvia by the way as a show of gratitude for the help we gave them in WW11.

Nice people all across the Baltics.

there is a good chance we might end up playing manure in this years final, if it did come off this is probably the best place to hold it with all the restrictions there will be on travel. last year would of been a disaster on a massive scale.

no doubt alot of people will have booked holidays earlier in the new in the hope we might get there.:D

Wouldn't worry about them issuing visas for mancs, they quite probably won't make it to the final and their fans are so full of it they probably long since applied for visas and booked flights and hotels. They'll have spent the time inbetween burgling to raise the money
Never buy from PC World, product quality is poor and their 'customer service' is even poorer

Athens: Dire warnings that UEFA ignored    -     Apr 18 2008 by Luke Traynor, Liverpool Echo

‘Police and stewards will be overwhelmed and some of these fans will use the chaos to gain entry . . .’

REPEATED warnings that the Champions League Final Athens would descend into chaos were ignored.

Lawyers acting for 40 Liverpool FC fans who failed to get into the Olympic Stadium despite having tickets, have obtained revealing papers.

The confidential dossier, seen by the ECHO, has strengthened their claims that security, transport and ticketing fell well short at the showpiece 2007 event.

The supporters are suing governing body Uefa for their financial loss in what could be a landmark sporting legal battle.

Now the ECHO can exclusively reveal how Merseyside police and Liverpool FC expressed serious concerns about match arrangements in the weeks leading up to the May 23 final.

Their fears were highlighted in a written report to the Athens local organising committee in two meetings, three weeks and one week before the final.

But despite assurances from the Greek officials that particular problems would be tackled, nothing was done.

During one discussion just six days before the Champions League Final, both police and Liverpool FC agreed some arrangements “would not work”.

Among the 30 pages of documents are minutes from a May 4 meeting in Athens involving Greek organisers, Uefa delegates, police and Liverpool FC and AC Milan officials.

At the gathering Anfield stadium manager Ged Poynton highlighted concerns, including the lack of proper crowd control systems, turnstiles and measures to combat the use of forged tickets.

An official minute recorded that the Athens organising committee “noted the points made and assured the meeting that the perimeter would be secure and that queues would be managed”.

Part of a hard-hitting report, mostly written by Liverpool FC, reads: “It is clear that working with these numbers the holding area and system will not work.

“If fans do gain access what is in place to deal with those who do not have tickets?”

In one particularly damning section, Mr Poynton states: “ . . . police and stewards will be overwhelmed and some of these fans will use the chaos caused in an attempt to gain entry to the stadium.

“. . . security has not been provided to stop fans gaining access without tickets or those with counterfeit tickets.

“The only thing suggested is policing and security. But no real plan has been provided or outlined to ourselves.”

On the day the predicted chaos led to crushing.

Some 2,000 genuine fans were locked out and there were shambolic scenes.

Supporters were, incredibly, asked to hold their tickets in the air because of the lack of turnstiles.

After the May 4 meeting growing worries on behalf of the club were raised in a series of telephone conversations with both Uefa and the director of the Athens venue.

On May 17, six days before the final, a second meeting was held at Anfield between Liverpool FC officials and Merseyside police, including one of the force’s top sporting crowd control experts, Chief Superintendent Dave Lewis.

They discussed their continuing concerns over transport and crowd control with the group concluding measures in place “will not work”.

Simon Gibson, a partner with Merseyside-based Kirwans Solicitors which is spearheading the legal action, said the revelations provided fresh impetus to the claim.

He told the ECHO: “For the first time we have clear evidence that at a number of meetings, Athens organisers ignored serious complaints made both by Liverpool and Merseyside police.

“I believe that if those concerns had been adequately addressed there might well not have been the sort of difficulties which were witnessed on the night and many fans would not have been left disappointed, assaulted and considerably out of pocket.”

Mr Gibson called for Uefa to put an end to the legal action and compensate affected fans.

He added: “We believe that Uefa has a responsibility in this instance because, regardless of the individual failings of the Greek organisers, the Champions League final last year and every year is a Uefa event.

“In the last month the federation has admitted there were problems in Athens and decided to change arrangements for this year’s final in Moscow.

“I hope it intervenes now with its Greek colleagues to bring closure to this unhappy episode.”

Today Uefa officials said they were aware of the pending legal action but declined to comment further.

Early days and already the russian comedians are making their appearance. This one's from Domodedovo just outside Moscow. No doubt you'll meet many more like him in and around the stadium. Watch yer wallets, and yer backs.
