Yep, controlling a ball and passing spring to mind. He can't do either consistently.

He's not good enough, if Rafa can't see that then he's the idiot, not the 40,000 reds in the stadium every week.

Rafa - one of the most decorated managers in the World for the last 6/7 years, manager of Liverpool, who works with all the players and Kuyt every day o the week is an idiot.

Stu - call centre employee of the month, failed bizzie and playing in the I-Zingari second division knows more about football.

Something not ringing true there.

call centre employee of the month

we should have a new thread and call it classic posts..starting with this one

No matter that he was bought as a striker and has been an utter failure. Then he get placed out of position just so can play and gets no goals at all.
Something pennant constantly get stick for. He never scores enough for a winger and just gets assists.

But Kuyt?
The goals aren't important for a winger( which kuyt really isn't) as long as you work hard.
When other players mishandle the ball or make plays break down time after time again, they get flogged.

Kuyt?
Sure, he losses the ball and his offensive upside is zero, but
it is ok, cause works hard.

He has gotten chance after chance playing more than most other players, both as striker and winger, and never makes things happen.
Still everyone loves the hard worker.
It is just a matter of time. Way back he did score etc etc.
Who cares if he doesn't do it now.

Great to have vs Chelski and :censored: but what about in a starting role vs Derby, Brum, Reading etc?
Totally worthless again and again making plays break down all the time.

But Kuyt can end this season with 3(2 pens) goals in 35 games and still get 3 goals in 35 games next season and he will still be untouchable.
Yay to mediocrity!

If I may say so, this is overblown ridiculousness.

Btw are you peewee? you guys are so similar...  :D

Which bit isn't "overblown ridiculousness" ? That Kuyt doesn't score (see Arsenal 1st leg), that he has scored only 3 goals when in fact he has 10, or that apparently he works hard but not offensively?

Kuyt didn't score enough goals up front, that's probably the only criticism anyone can make of him. Same goes for Crouch and Voronin and a number of Liverpool strikers before him. But why do people have to add :censored: that isn't even true?

And for the record Kuyt has played 43 games already and scored 10 goals, Liverpool have won 63% of those games

Not gone through all the pages but here's my tuppence worth.

Dirk is basically a striker who can provide the foil for a main hitman (I believe Fernando is his name). One or two of the London pundits seem to have got it into their heads that he is a Torres-type player who should be banging them in left right and centre. He is not. The man himself admitted in 442 when he first arrived that he is some one who creates 15-20 goals as well a someone who can potentially score that amount too.

For me, he was my man of the match against Arsenal last Tuesday (honourable mentions to Carragher and Arbeloa too) as he never gave their back four a moment's peace. They would have been focussing on Torres yet had to put up with Dirk who kept coming at them.

I hope he's kept on over the summer because Liverpool would miss him if he left.

Which he hasnt.

Oh and Arbeloa was on the pitch for literally a minute mate, so a honourable mention may be bit over the top.

Welcome anyway  :D

Sugar! I meant Aurelio. (I'm on the weissbier tonight if that's a plausible excuse).

Honestly, I've been quietly impressed with Kuyt out on the wing over the last eight games or so. While he isnt no Ronaldo out on the wing he has put in some very solid performances. His attirbutes are nowhere near good enough to play as a striker, he just doesnt have the movement, touch or goals in him.

His workman like ethic is better served on the wing their, until Rafa can bring in a winger who has the ability to go past players and score a few goals I think Kuyt will be okay their until the end of the season.

As for next season, well our trouble this season has been not beating the mid-table teams, oh and of course the "big three" teams. While Kuyt is good for a more contained game, its tough going when we need to beat the likes of Birmingham and Pompey he doesnt have enough guile, his grit and determination is met with those kind of teams grit too, and thats where you need the guile, and unfortunately for Dirk he just hasnt got it

I think I'd cash in on him, but Rafa clearly likes him and if so I hope he is used more sparingly next season.

Hes really slow, cant pass well, dosent create or score enough, his first touch is shocking. I know alot of you respect him for how hard he works and I do too, im just saying its way over the top. Everytime I see him with the ball i cringe. Hes a shocking footballer. People will say im goin over the top and all that but imo its true. We need better players than him if were gunna win the league.

Plus hes not exactly the nicest looking man alive :D

:no Worst post i have ever read

Credit is to be given where its due , he has been excellent ever since moving to the wing and the amount of criticism he has had to deal with is just bull sh!t

And i'm sure you don't look like brad pitt so don't give fecking comments abt how other people look , take a long ahrd look in the mirror

Toffeehater, mate about his looks for a start, that was a joke, so first of all learn to take a joke mate before yer start gettin personal. I have a opinion on Kuyt, you do, everyone does, its pretty even on what people think , hes either good enough or not. Dont get personal and all serious cos you dont like what I say. I respect everyones views on him, mines just different as is alot of peoples.

Oh and by the way, I dont think Brad Pitts nice looking anyway  :D

Well its not a nice thing to joke abt , especially not for a man who's heart and attitude , is so brilliant . Can you name me another player other then kuyt who gives part of his wages , sponsership , bonuses all to charity? People like ronaldo only look to earn more ulike kuyt , and fair enough point thats what a forum is for .

Oh so he deserves his place in the Liverpool team cos he gives money to charity? Thats one of the most pathetic shouts ive heard in a while. Alot of footballers do. More than youd think. I give money to charity/homeless people ect when I can, does that mean I deserve to play for Liverpool?

I'll give u tenner if u can find where i said that just cos he gives his wages to charity he deserves a place in the starting 11 , he works hard and like ozwat said if he can get 10 in a season like he has now and he's got 7 assist in the premier league alone  , he deserves a place on the right , no other player in the red shirt who plays in his position cept stevie will track back and run foward like kuyt does

You didnt say it, but you implied it. Then again I dont suppose you know what that means. Right wing is a position where 4 players at most in our squad could play there, so saying " no one else who can play there expect gerrard would track back like him" thats leaving 2 other options  ??? And the other player who can play there is Yossi, and he does his fair bit of tracking back. So one option. Not leaving alot to beat is it.

Yes i do know what implying is , but i like i said i did not say it . The main things is that i did not say it upfront and implying and saying are 2 different things , yossi better then kuyt ?? Well lets leave that to another time , and fair bit of tracking bit does not cut it , how many assist does yossi have? Kuyt has a decent goal rate and a good assist one , playing has a winger . Does pennant and yossi have that many? Yossi may have the goals , but not many assist , pennant has neither and is off form now , so kuyt seems to be our best option in this current formation .

Another excellent footballing post.

How dare anyone disagree with Benitez, Obviously Kuyt is worth every penny of the £10,000,000  or  so spent on him.

Yossi has scored more than Kuyt or near enough the same, whilst considerably less games.

Yea , no arguements there but kuyt does more then him , puts in good crosses , assists and also works hard , runs up and down the pitch , tracks back and helps the defence

I'm sick and tired of kunts that feel the need to include 3 days of quotes in their post  , I read them first, second  and third time around. If Toffeehater and Thingy feel the need to play head tennis with their quotes I suggest the pair of them do it by pm and stop boring the sh'it out of me and others .

You have been warned.

Stu, they (the quotes) go back three days and are unnecessary , particularly as there's only two members involved in the conversation, I'm assuming like me the rest of the forum had lost interest hence my suggestion the do it by pm or get a f'ucking room .

I see nothing wrong in quoting posts (I do it alot :D  ) as long as its football discussion and not trading insults.
