eto'o is an exceptional player aswell. i remember real mallorca thrashing real madrid 5-1 in the bernebau and the guy ripped madrid's defence to shreds. looks like he might be headed to barca though.

Yes, it was magical.

Morientes made me happy when he booted the blues out!

What's with Real? They have at them 4 great players, Raul, Morrientes, Ronaldo, Eto'o

Are they ever contended?

But I know that Camacho has no plans for Owen in his team. He was asking for better defensive players. Well as we all know, their board never listens to coaches. They prefer to hire and sack.:)

Real Madrid are more interested in selling shirts than winning games.

Owen will sell shirts. Defenders dont.

Which is why RM have had the worst defence in the Champions League over the past 2 seasons.

They're not far from playing 11 strikers in the team.

they have worked this out, they relaised selling a holding midfielder in Makelele was a mistake, now they are trying to get Vieira, and they have already signed Samuel. Real still want another centre half to add to that list, they have cben linked with Coloccini for one.

with that in mind their team would be as follows.

Casillas
Salgado
Helguera/new guy
Samuel
Roberto Carlos
Becks
Figo
Zidane
Vieira
Ronaldo
Raul

with Morientes, Guti, etc as backup

pretty stong side if you ask me, they will be challenging for top honours this season.

i think its time for Owen to move on... BAros and Cissie are great fowards and they packs goals in their boots... and with the money gain from the sale.. we can add a good winger and a center defender to our squad... and REal Madrid and planning to give us Guti... why not..

I've been positive through all this speculation and I won't believe that Owen is leaving until it is posted on LiverpoolFC.tv

It doesn't make sence, Owen wouldn't want to be a backup player for anybody, especilly not in Madrid.

agree A.B. , I believe Owen will stay this season, and wait and see what happens, if we underachive again then he will leave, but if we do decently in Europe and challenge for the league then he will stay.

It really is up to Owen if he wants to leave then that is his decision, and I wish him all the best.

won't happen, he'll either go now for a good fee, sign a new contract and stay for years to come with Liverpool prospering at all levels or leave end of next season

LFC#1 Owen staying is one thing but he needs to sign...the absolute worst thing that could happen is that he stays another season without signing and goes for free next summer, if he stays this season he will likely stay for 2-3 seasons.
Anyway, I have read now that the deal with Real Madrid is in serious doubt. Morientes played last night (and scored both their goals) in the Champions league qualifier so we don't want him and Eto'o has signed an £18mill deal with Barcelona. Is there anyone else we'd take in part ex for Michael? They have some talent there on the bench but nothing that strikes me as worth £15mill which is what the player would need to be worth to make up the price for Owen.

That is the worst possible outcome for the Liverpool Football club. He stays the rest of the year and leaves on a free.

Forgive me for asking, but are you a Liverpool supporter or a Michael Owen supporter?

In my humble opinion, leaving him on the bench tells his that he is not bigger than the club, and the club will go on without him.

Its not for him to choose whether the club is big enough for him, but whether he is capable of leading this club.

I am 100% behind the club and manager on this matter. No wonder Benitezs has won 2 league titles.

I am both a Liverpool and Michael Owen supporter, can't be one or the other have to be both imo. If not extending a contract or leaving, I can see Owen retiring at a young age.
