If a yellow card is given to any player to any team in future premiership matches then ok, mascha was made an example of but the standards have stuck. However, should it stick I can see more dangerous tackles going on in the game which referees miss and the wrong players being sent off for protesting against the players who should be sent off.

There isn't even consistency in the awarding of yellow cards, some refs wouldn't have booked Mascherano so early. While the laws are there for interpretation there will always be inconsistency and cause for everton-ness (bitter-ness to those who don't get it)

I only caught part of the Zenit-Bayer game last night, but the players surrounded the ref, pushed each other and I believe one even pushed the ref and yet only ONE yellow was shown. Was the ref sensible in dealing with it or slack? It was a scene you see all too often in the Premiership, started by the mancs, then Arsenal when they were title chasers and then Chelsea when they were top. And a debate the other day on teletext about M.Schumacher and the levels he stooped to in order to stay top, just reminds me that those at the top offend the worst in order to stay at the top. Almost as if "how dare the ref give decisions against us, we are above the law"

But whether the ref should have taken account of the game he was "in charge" of is another matter, Mascherano shouldn't have approached the ref and that was wrong. What the ref did was arguably also wrong, he could have taken Mascherano to one side, given him a left or right bollock-king and sent him back on to the pitch with his head hung in shame and his balls in a sling. But some refs seem to like the authority, refs shouldn't be leaving their mark on a game they should be sending off as a last resort with no other option, not silly things like dissent.

Interesting that the rule book says it should be a minumum of a two game ban for refusing to leave the pitch and yet, according to today's Guardian, Watford's John Eustace had a three match ban extended by one match for the same thing and Adebayor got the same in the League Cup final last year againt Chelsea.

Maybe he should cite previous examples, take his case to a newspaper and the FA will look stupid

Masch is upset at missing the Blackburn game.

I asked him why.

He said he wanted to chin Robbie Savage.

I said he plays for Derby now.

Masch said that he would find a new victim from Blackburn to feel the searing pain he intended to cause Savage.

I said OK then.

If he does miss Blackburn then it means Plessis may well keep his place (in the league side) for another game
