4) If Torres has scored 60 league goals for Liverpool by the start of the 2011/12 season, I'll say he's better than Owen.

good result, lets just finish the job off at anfield.

Gerrard man of the match for me.

Another goal conceeded from a set peice ??? are we all still sure that zonal marking works because I'm not. This is one thing me and Andy Gray agree on. It doesn't work, you don't leave Adebeyor unmarked six yards out. A few other dodgy moments in the defence but overall not to bad.

Got the away goal and kept the scores level so again not to bad. They had chances but their a good team and at their ground it's expected. We had a few chances ourselves.

totally agree.

HE was slagging us off for the Arsenal goal and after we scored he said f**k all about it....regardless of Gerrards run into the box to make the goal.  He also accused Torres of being offside....then driving.  He was proven wrong by the ref on both counts  :)  :;):

First of all great result and defensive performance but, we must keep the ball much better than tonight, we would gain it and within 4 passes we would lose it and thats not including all the aimless lumps upfield. The defence did great considering how quick it kept coming back.
Special mention for Sktel he`s had to play some big games for us already and looks like a great signing and is already an important player for us, cant wait to see him line up along side Agger.
If there is a time to "rest" a few players its now.
Dont judge a book by the cover, unless you cover just another, because blind exceptance is a sign,

Too harsh on Andy.

Think of it, near retirement, you have an age, you have to take care of heart, you're Evertonian, and you get to see the club you hate close to reaching semifinals of the CL 3 times in 4 years.

That's too much for that old man, what a nightmare for him it must be,  it's normal he loses his temper.

Was it that one set piece we set for zonal marking or was it the entire match?

The goal we conceded was poor defending, lack of concentration but since that goal the defence was solid.

defence was solid that's why Hleb walked through them and should of had a penalty?

defence was solid that's why Fabregas should of scored and would of had it not been for his own teammate?

the goal came from zonal marking. 3 fellas on Reina's toes and not a Liverpool shirt anywhere to be seen. How can it be lack of concentration...the players concentration was marking their little zone and Arsenal once throughout the entire game managed to put into an empty space. Other set peices I remember, Van Persie knocking it short and an easy clearance for Hyypia to Babel, Van Persie and Fabregas cocking up a corner and Van Persie under hitting one which Gerrard headed clear. If their set peices were more accurate, they could of killed us off.

Good result, we got lucky, because they still managed to cut through us without any of our players actually playing badly, (Babel aside who was very poor, 4 passes, 33% completion, he seems to lack in confidence). They had a nailed on pen, and it would just be Kuyts luck to have given a pen and score :D poor bastard, well played though Dirk. I thought we also had a shout on Torres midway through the second half, but it wasn't shown again.

I still do not like the system, against a good side Torres has to do masses of work and will be knackered and probably lose a little sharpness over time. Gerrard also gets drawn deep into midfield against the better teams, and leaves Torres isolated. The system might still get us through to number 6, because its strengths are better suited to European football as it will allow us to soak up pressure. Although long term i will always prefer Gerrard in midfield, doing what he does best and two strikers infront of him, at times you could see plenty of space was there for a second striker had we one. The only way i can see the formation working at its best is if we have wingers and fullbacks with enough skill and pace to get involved, and in Babels case the heart.

next week will be a nervous one again, and its far from over, i'd be tempted to change nearly the whole side for Saturday, and get them to harass and knock seven shades out of Arsenal, because by the end of tonight the gooners looked goners.

We conceded one goal, at the emirates, against an arsenal team camped in our half for the second 45. If thats not solid what is?

Bit lucky though, Bendtner cleared one off the line, Kuyt conceded a clear penalty. The defence was ok, but it was more to do with us have 8-9 men at times behind the ball. Anyhow, whatever it takes to get the job done is fine by me.

Oh yeah, we rode our luck but GBJH is putting forward his case as to why zonal marking doesnt work. And here is his evidence:

that's why Hleb walked through them and should of had a penalty?

Bad decision by the ref or zonal marking to blame?

defence was solid that's why Fabregas should of scored and would of had it not been for his own teammate?

Run of luck for liverpool or zonal marking to blame?

A very thin case for GBJH to go on.

Evenin all just got back my nerves are shot. We will be appearing on the next episode of crime watch we mugged them good and proper . But im not complaining we got an away goal simple.

We done well though to contain them with ten men because Babel didnt show up and when Yossi came on same as.

I couldnt see if it was a stone wall pen from where i was but Hlebb went down easy, Saying that we should of had one in the second half when Gallas done Torres,

Dirk Kuyt for me was fantastic . Carra must have been made up when he switched with Babel and went on the right. Kuyt best player in a red shirt tonight followed closely by Skrtel and Carra.

Roll on second leg
