It couldn't happen, could it.....so many questions, so much moral high ground to conquer first you see. Yet, so little motivation - the byproduct of such indifference (sighs). wow... that sounded like a shakespeare play...:D btw what does "myther" mean? I looked up on dictionary.com but it's not there.

:D yeah its a good read. do u happen to have an interest in literature?

Understatement mate...... dig up some of his older posts before he started to post less.... The man definitely knows his way around a thesaurus!

You should post more often again red37...... Well needed methinks.

this has gone from Kuyt, to mick not posting enough, to redblood and kazza having a slanging match, to red37 being tipped as the next shakesphere, to Con being up Red's :censored: because he's a moderator  (sorry con, couldn't resist it lad)

I'll go back to Mick's post about Kuyt being worth 2-3 million, I think that's a fair assumption Mick, but not for Wigan or Bolton. I just can't see Kuyt staying in England. I think he'll move back to Holland or Germany. I just don't think he's got it in him to cut it in England not even for a mickey mouse side. Also I'd rather see the lad doing well because he's ran his socks off and his attitude is as good as any at the club, so I think moving back home would be best for him and his career. European football, international football (again) and trophies, he won't get that at Bolton/Wigan. So to thank him for the works he's done at Liverpool we should look to sell him to a decent side in Holland.
1) You'll Never Walk Alone
2) pass and move is the Liverpool groove
3) FIRST WILL ALWAYS BE FIRST AND SECOND WILL ALWAYS BE NOTHING.
4) If Torres has scored 60 league goals for Liverpool by the start of the 2011/12 season, I'll say he's better than Owen.

ok now... back to kuyt... I don't think the guy deserve as much stick as ppl on here give him... but I do think he comes a bit short of liverpool's first team quality if we want to win the league... I would sell him if we get like 4 million and if we have a target for a new striker... having said that if he stays on next season... I really hope he proves his critics wrong and he does have it in him to do that...

 Now you should definately post more  :D

Given the fact that the person whose opinion that the said posts are "painfully long" freely admits to never reading them, it kind of makes me want to take his advice and go back to that style. At least that way it would mean I haven't got to field the incessant tickles down to fine leg, and I could get on with talking about football with people who also have an opinion on the subject.

This "Rafa wouldn't tell you how to make a cosmopolitan so don't tell him how to run a football team" mantra is all very well but kind of makes this place pointless really. The whole essence and point of the forum (as I've always said, if indeed there is one which there probably isn't in truth) is the swapping of opinions and thoughts about all things to do with Liverpool football club.

Anyway to re-iterate the point I made earlier and return to the subject in hand I was totally wrong about Dirk Kuyt as I thought he was going to be "a legend" after seeing him play a few times. I use the term deliberately as I'm sure that is the actual terminology I used at the time. Clearly he isn't going to be a legend, and suggesting that he is now worth only 2-3 million pounds is massively inconsistent with my original observations on him. That'd be because I was wrong then  :eyebrow It seems it's not just long posts which don't get read properly.

I don't think I was on my own to be honest but there you go. Rafa himself obviously thought Kuyt was woth 9-10 million at the time he bought him, unless he wouldn't have done it. Now I can't speak for the manager and it's just a guess of course, but I don't think he would pay the same money for him if he knew then, what he knows now.

There is one final possibility of course and that is that I can be wrong twice in different ways about the same subject. Namely that Kuyt suddently starts banging them in from all directions and I have to revise my opinion back up to the "legend" status. Is it possible? Well unlike Stu I think anythings possible, but I would certainly say it's very unlikely. He won't I shouldn't have thought achieve legendary status as a right winger that's for sure, and I think I'm just going to have to accept the fact that I was wrong in the first place. He was as I said a rank poor signing, but fortunately the manager doesn't make too many of them to be fair.

Your not wrong this time Mick, Kuyt is just not up to the job with a top club. His work rate is second to none , but his all round game is lacking in too many areas. I had high hopes after his first few games, but its been a steady decline in my belief in him since then. I would trade him in as a p/x as I think we will be lucky to sell him for more than a couple of million.(Maybe if wages arn't a problem, back to Holland? )

I dont think he has a future with us anymore.

But if he was told to just stick in the box, he'd manage to put a decent tally
away in a season.

Nope, Kuyt is definitely not good enough but he's not the only one.  I'm getting fed up saying the same thing about several of our players every season.  We are signing the wrong players time after time and you wonder why we haven't won the league in 18 years!  Quality players wanted, apply within.

I was wrong to say "painfully long" about Micks' posts, there was no need.

Kuyt while not a natural finisher has an excellent engine and attitude and I am sure many teams would want him and would pay close to what we paid. He is a coaches player and coaches are the ones choosing the team so what fans think may not be that important. His consistant workrate and positive attitude guarantee he will hit a purple patch at some point, afterall when you do things right you will get the rub of the green. I think he has had a bad year personally and professionally and I hope he turns it around. Maybe not "top four" teams but all others would play him as a starter.

Maybe if many others on the team had his workethic and attitude we would be champions. As long as a player gives 100 percent for the team he will always get my backing.

I have a feeling he will be here next year so whether or not we would get 2-3 million for him (which in my opinion is a ridiculous statement) is a mute point.

It's all very well him running round like a headless chicken (something I and many others praise him for) but that alone isn't good enough for any side. You don't win matches by running, you need to do something with the ball, like sticking it in the back of the net, and unfortunately Kuyt doesn't have it in him in the Premiership. So I'd rather see the lad be shipped off back to Holland, where he's proven he can score and it'd further his career. If he joined a team like Wigan, his career would just go from bad to worse.
