The dirk kuyt debate....is he good enough?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

The only absolutely shocking thing as far as I'm personally concerned is there isn't a quote in there from me saying he good he is. I know my first impression was that he was going to be "a legend' at the club, such was the favourable impression he created with his first few appearances. Unfortunately of course it all went dreadfully wrong, and while those (like Stu) can pat themselves on the back for having called it right I still think Kuyt isn't quite as bad as he looks on occasions. It even looks funny now when you see the lists of strikers which people were comparing to Dirk, the reality is of course that as out and out strikers, they were/are all better than him.

When he does leave though at the end of the season (which he surely must) I think he can hold his head high though. His effort and dedication have been second to none, and ultimately it's hardly his fault that he isn't really good enough and his transfer fee was around 300% too high. Unfortunately, and all managers have them from time to time, this was rafa's stand out worst buy given our finances at the time.

He's not as bad as people make out, really isn't, but he's not as good as these people made out. I did see the other threads on him aswell which you said he was a legend in the making etc...

Quite funny how people always say am wrong when I'm not though... love it.

 Soon as I saw the thread and flicked it up, I thought "feck me I know what's coming here". Thanks for not bringing that one back up and this one instead, though no doubt Judgie will find it the fecker  :D

On the always being right and never wrong bit though, nah listen to yourself. You're a good judge I'll give you that but because players become better/worse/stand still/develop/don't develop/acclimatise it's a constantly changing picture and nobody, but nobody, is right all the time.

Not even me   :p

Mick one huge problem. Who'll have him? It's all very well people saying lets sell x, y and z. But if no club wants them then they don't get flogged and they remain on our books until they're out of contract, which means we get nothing for them.

I remember the game against West Ham when he made his debut, and he looked dangerous. Shooting whenever he picked up the ball, playing good through balls (I think Crouch was set clean through from Kuyt but Crouch was offside if memory serves right) and his energy levels were unquestionable. But even then, there was something I didn't like about the lad. I gave him 10 games into his Liverpool career and it wasn't really good enough, I had a similar feeling about Morientes when we were linked with him, just something inside was saying he wouldn't work at Liverpool.

I must say however, I don't think Kuyt has been as fairly treated as he could be. I mean it must be knocking his confidence even further when he sees he's playing on the right wing and now it's affecting his international career as well. I think also with Kuyt it's affecting other players. Is Benitez telling Pennant, Babel and Benayoun that there not good enough as right wingers but Kuyt is? If he is then when buy them? Likewise is he trying to tell Crouch that Kuyt is a better forward than Crouch? Again if so why waste money on Crouch?

For the sake of both club and player, Dirk Kuyt must go in the summer, if anybody will take him off our books.

4) If Torres has scored 60 league goals for Liverpool by the start of the 2011/12 season, I'll say he's better than Owen.

Well I think someone will take him for a couple of million John yes. Bolton, Wigan or one of those teams would take him for 2-3 million I'm certain of it.

He's worth £5m-£7m easy and he'd get into alot of premiership sides, just none near the top end of the league.

Once he's settled and his confidence improves of course we'll see more consistency.

Do I think he's good enough to be a key player for a title winning side? Not in a million years.

Of all the sh.it you spout, thats the one I will look forward to seeing proved total boll.ocks the most.

First he is going to be a legend and now in your infinite wisdom he is only worth 2-3 million. Wow! Will you ever be right? Law of averages I suppose, give enough opinions and who knows.

Maybe you should go back to painfully long posts.

i reckon hell go newcastle myself

hes not a bad player like some people make out and has a great attitude but hes just not good enough for a title winning team maybe fourth choice but starting every game, no chance

if he goes ill wish him well because he always gives 110% for the club and the fans

Gee thanks for that. Not my best but I thank you for the compliment just the same. It is just my opinion. :;):

You go from one extreme to the other and seem to object when I mention it.
