Never thought I'd ever say it, but fair play to Andy Gray there. Redknapp is just a tool. Gray was just exercising the same view as I have and a few other's on here.

I jus watched that in a calm mood after seein it sundy. I personally think they're both rite, BUT still feel sum1 else shudda been doin the protestin - no matter how they spoke to the tw@ in black - instead of Mascha. I think Alonso shudda been a bit harder with Mascha cuz where the argie can claim not to 'know' bennett, Xabi cant, he's been here long enuff to know what the to$$ers like and liable to do. Strange thing is, even with the cashley cole abortion the other nite, no-one can say it was unusual for bennett to do what he did. I DO think that incident played a part in the sendin off, but there was always liable to be a red card with him in charge.
Stu Averill, a wannabe Scouse/Scot. I remember the good times & have faith in them comin back

Beside the Hillsborough Flame, I heard a Koppite mournin, "Why so many taken on that day?" Justice has never been done. But their memory we'll carry on. There'll be Glory Round The Fields Of Anfield Road

To be honest, I don't think Grays life is that sad for him to cringe at such a thing.

He is a pundit. His job is to give his opinion.

What really annoyed me was that Xabi was right by Torres when he got a yellow and he did nothing.  He should have been the one questioning the ref's decision instead of Mascherano who had to run from half the field to stand up for Torres.

Here's some video about Masch incident during the Manure match.

NANNY RED wrote:I cant argue anymore with this Masher fiasco some of us believe he did no wrong and others believe he was right to go weve all got our own take on it,

Just wait till the FA wanna make it more than what it is an give him a bigger ban, Well all be screaming at the injustice when hes missing for not just next week but for a few weeks.

Criminal

If he carries on behaving like a caveman with no respect for himself or the team then I won't miss him at all. He was winging and whining to the ref all the first half, he absolutely deserved to be sent off, or subbed off if Rafa wasn't dozing! Torres was booked for showing disrespect to the ref, very clever, then brainbox Masch runs over and gets himself sent off, then doesn't obey his captain and only just obeys his manager when asked to leave the pitch, what a guy!!! and people want him to be the next captain, what a joke!!!

I am so sick and tired of the attitude on here that everyone is against us, it's pathetic. We were lucky not to have Carra sent off right at the start of the game and it's only because Rooney is an honest and strong player that we didn't, don't worry I still

Rooney is not an honest and strong player , the only reason eh stayed up is because he had the confidence to score and he needs the goals , he's on 8 for the season and if he had dropped and it was a pen , ronaldo would have taken it and not him , yes credit to him , he stayed on his feet when most would have gone down , maybe even torres in his position but he did it for his own motive

People complaining abt kuyt's finishing take one hard long good look at the amount of chances rooney had , kuyt would have buried at least 1 of those , yes people can argue that rooney creates more or gives more to the team , i think since kuyt has been moved to the right , he has given more this season , he has created goals and effectively stopped attacks down his side and has done it well , he was the only one who can walk away with his head held high yesterday as he was the only one who played the match for the love and passion for the game .
Well done lad .

So let me get this straight , mascherano can't ask the ref , what's this when he booked torres? and it was our freekick? Where was th protection there that ferguson wanted for skillfull players with flair like ronaldo, where was it for torres? The lad left the game with injuries and possibly because of that, i'm sorry the officials deserve no respect what so ever . SO basically for asking a question mascherano for that he gets sent off , well sorry then i think everyweek the premier league should have players off if its like this , countless like rooney , ronaldo , terry , rio just a fewto mention , theymouth of to the refree and get away with it why? Becasue they have a different set of rules , yes mascherano was wrong but he wanted to know why the ref was showing double standards and no consistency what so ever , if u are going to book someone for their first tackle and he knows its late and the studs were down , then he should have booked scholes for deliberately blocking babel , when babel had beaten him and he obstrcuted him . Face it , the ref is a cu.nt and he ate right outta ferguson's hand .

I'm sorry but are you really try to say that Kuyt gives more to Liverpool that Ronaldo does to Man Utd, are you high or something???
That has to be the most blinkered thing I have ever read, I have no idea what you see in Kuyt but as mentioned before we will have to agree to disagree about him.

In what was was the ref biased, I didn't notice that at all and I didn't notice any Man Utd players winging and whining to Bennett throughout the whole of the first half like Masha did.

The one thing I do agree with is that this should not be a one-off sending off. ref's need to be much firmer with players, I think its a bloody disgrace when I see players talking back to the ref, you don't get that in any other sport that I know of and it has to stop. It's sending a terrible message to children to see their heroes act is such a disrespectful way! :veryangry

Well certainly ronaldo gives more to his side , read my post again before jumping on my back will you . Secondly why would the manure players be complaining to the ref the way mascha did , when all the decisions were going their way , they knew that ferguson had lured the ref into his trap , where was the protection for torres when he was getting kicked , he asked the ref that and he got booked and masch got p!ssed and asked what's up and went off , nothing much for the manure players to complain is there , none of their players were booked in the first half when scholes shud have been for obstruction , it all boils down to consistency

maybe there should be a whole new thread for 'the mascherano incident'.

anyway - under normal conditions what he did and said should merit no more than a word of warning from any referee including, i'm sure, the idiot that is steve bennet. the problem was that masch had been mouthing off to the referee all through the game and had received warnings, all clearly visible if you watch closely. therefore normal conditions did not apply and although the referee could have, and maybe should have, been a little bit more lenient and allowed mascherano to cool off over half time, only a couple of minutes away, he was within his rights to produce the red card.

under the circumstances neither the referee or mascherano were acting in the most intelligent manner and neither of them took the best decision about their actions. mascherano should have known he was on thin ice and pulled his neck in and the referee should have known that a little more strength of character and clearer warnings would have prevented the ruining of a very important game.
