I feel sick .

That ref was giving cards for anything and when a manu player does it he looks away ...

I feel Mascherano had a right to go to the ref because torres yellow was simply a joke so he went over not flaming or shouting he said '' whats happening ref '' twice the ref thought in his world of manu land oh look red bye then masch lost the plot...

Well feck it I'm off back to bed. If you must have one, I give you a new scapegoat though. I thought Skyrtel was at fault for botht he first two goals. First gola for me he probably gets a shout from reina but he should have headed it away. It wasn't a foul for me, if the defender simply stands his ground and bends forwards there is bound to be contact from in behind. He needed to be stronger and make a better decision.

For the second goal, alonso is poor in his man marking of ronaldo allowing him to get a run. The ball is headed though on the edge of the six yard box, in Hyppia territory, meanwhile Skyrtel is bear hugging Tevez and not looking at the ball. Reina (I think) sees the danger and tries to beat Ronaldo to it. I think Skyrtel is more used to man to man marking by the looks of that, and he confirmed my original impression today that although he has qualties, epecially pace, he has much to learn.

Other than that though, I wouldn't rush to any conclusions. The 4-5-1 abjectly failed under the first time it's been closely scrutinised, but i wouldn't be rushing to bin it. I'd just like to see the wide midfielders taking turns to tuck in and in between the lines a bit to give us more shape. I think this would give us another out and make it harder to isolate Gerrard, which the Mancs did very effectively today. Also, as stated before either Masherano or Alonso has to join in the play more, you can't IMHO have two out and out holders in English football. All that said, the sending off completely changed the game (and mash only has himself to blame TBH) and all bets visa vis faults with the team are just about off.

One last thought. If the refs are looking for more respect, and almost a "rugby style" attitude from the players, why didn't Bennet simply go upto Gerrard, ignoring Masherano and tell the captain to have a word with his player? Had he have done so, at least then he could have been seen to be acting in a responsible way and doing his very best to maintain eleven a side and keep the game a contest.

With a bit of luck talking to a ref like that will be gut out of the game.

Yes and no. Yes he shouldnt have done that but at the same time as Andy Gray said it killed the game and he wasnt saying anything that bad.

Rafa must have been :censored: of for him to actually come on the pitch and drag Masch away himself.

Gerrard was all over the place. It wasnt until last 5 mintues that he actually made any proper passes. Otherwise he was way of the pace.

if we can turn all the 0-0s against lower clubs into wins we don't need to boss arsenal, mancs, chelsea...

Stu Averill, a wannabe Scouse/Scot. I remember the good times & have faith in them comin back

Beside the Hillsborough Flame, I heard a Koppite mournin, "Why so many taken on that day?" Justice has never been done. But their memory we'll carry on. There'll be Glory Round The Fields Of Anfield Road

Absolutely true, our team is so soft especially our FB's.  Today the team was a complete disgrace, I just cant stand how they show no fighting spirit against these :censored:.  Absolutely everything went wrong today, the tactics, :censored: ref and the players.  I'm so :censored: depressed.

I think the message has got through to Andy Gray, he was actually sticking up for Liverpool at half time, but that pr*ck that once captained our club was so far up the refs @rse it was unreal.
From Shankly to Brendan we follow our team, Rome to Istanbul we've all lived the dream. Our journey is long, our goal stays the same, to keep for our children the famous red name.

Agreed about skrtel mate, as I said in the last two pages that he is at fault for the first goal.

As far as I know, no one has any idea of what Masch said to the ref. Just because he wasn't wave his arms around, doesn't mean that he didn't say something offensive.

Why were they a disgrace fella? Jeez they're playing the best team in the League, away from home and they concede a goal before going down to ten men. After that they hold it at 1-0 before conceding a couple with ten minutes to go. No disgrace involved, just beaten by a better team on the day.

This nonsense about not showing enough fight is trotted out every time. Masherano showed fight, but for me let down the team massively today. Football matches turn on a couple of incidents, this one did today as well. The team weren't a disgrace though IMHO, nowhere near it.
