grant's not got a clue?? - 10 wins and 2 draws in his last 12 league games says dfferent.
I'm sorry but like it or not chelsea will finish above us this year.
utd will beat bolton, villa and blackburn. i'd put money on it if i could bring myself to bet on utd.
Dont forget, as rafa-dodd says 0 points from 9 is still a real possibility for us (i dont think that will happen, but its just as possible!).
remember this thread? - 3 points system thread
- we discused at length the matches we thought utd, arsenal and chelsea would drop points in. - They didnt. and infact we dropped more points than they did.
As much as i love the optimism and would love to be wrong on this issue: we will not win every game from now till the end of the season. we will drop points too.
He inherited a squad, it's not his . Secondly the whole chelsea squad was bought . Thirldy , his side waspoor against us at the bridge , hell we shud have beaten them , sorry i've not seen anything spectuclar from grant , he's got a good squad thats it . We saw in the league cup final against spurs when they were in extra time , he was clueless . Had no answer to berbatov and keane

okay then grants 'inherited squad' can win the league then!
- the whole chelsea squad was bought the last time they won the league wasn't it? - why bring that up?
also you point out how poor they played against us - true, but that was mourinho, not grant.
the cup was exactly that. a cup match... does it mean that rafa has no answer to barnsley? - no it doesn't.
whether grant knows what he's doing or not is kinda irrelevant if chelsea continue to do what they've been doing in the league. 12 games: 10 wins, 2 draws.
Mate this is not a personal arguement, but chelsea are right up there and have got a real chance (more so than us anyway!) thats all i'm saying.

Yea they bought squad could not win the league last season . why is that?
They played poor against us , both under mourinho adn grant if u recall just a few weeks back where we got a draw at the bridge and we shud have won.
They are not much better then us mate and we saw that a couple of times this season , scarrpying a win against sunderland and lesser teams this season , like fulham and etc .

why dont liverpool aim to win all games, then if they fall short, then 3rd is not unrealistic is it.
if lfc concentrate just on 4th, as you say, and then fall short, that would be disastrous.
its like in exams, aim for the highest grade and if you fall short, you'll still pass
simple really
Yes correct but don't forget even if we beat the mancs and arsenal , they still have points advantage over us and they have to drop points equal to that for us to overtake them

A month ago - there was talk about sacking the manager, the players not being good enough the club being in complete disarray, a lot of it by a few who post on here. It's not over until it is mathematically impossible, but if we can finish strong with a respectable number of points then it will have been a very decent league campaign despite all of what has gone on.
Still, having said that, we've still underachieved in my book. Even if we win every game from now until the end of the season, we'll still have one point less than 2005/6 when we finished 3rd.

Is this Paul Tomkins in disguise?![]()
Only messing St Mike, but I think that's being a bit kind. Even if we win every league game from now on (which is very unlikely), the fact is we were out of the title race by January, and with the money we spent last summer and the fact it is now Benitez's 4th season, I don't think it's a decent league campaign at all. What we can still do is make it look closer than it was when the final league table is printed.
Don't get me wrong, I'm delighted we've turned the corner and once again Rafa is producing in the Champions League, but I still ask the same question - do you believe he will ever win us the Premiership? If the answer to that is no, then I think you know what has to happen.
Personally I think it is a very difficult situation to read. I think that we have a squad that is almost good enough to win the league, and a manager who can at times look like a tactical genius, and at times foolish. The question is do you give him another season? I'll admit that a month or so ago I'd have said no. But when you see what our team can achieve when he just rotates less, and with the results against Inter, you can't help but want him to stay another season and prove the doubters wrong. I have to say I'm undecided at the moment.
stmichael wrote:Sacking the manager isnot the answer. If you do that then you get a new guy in who wants his own players, his own backroom staff and you're back to square 1.

Obviously a new manager will mean new staff, new players etc, but I'll ask you the same question again.
Do you think Benitez will win us the Premiership?

probably because utd got better - and anyway, i dont care about that - you're the one who bought that fact up about them buying their whole squad - I questioned why you said it in the first place, so you've kinda answered your own question there from your first reply to my post. They played poor against us , both under mourinho and grant if u recall just a few weeks back where we got a draw at the bridge and we shud have won.

I agree they're not that much better, but they are slightly better, and come wednesday i expect them to be 8 points ahead of us and therefore in a better chance of winning the league than we do. (Please dont bring up the scrappy wins arguement - we just only just got there against derby and sometimes its those scrppy wins that actually wins you the league - as opposed to drawing with the likes of wigan, middlesbough etc like we have done.
as I said, i dont want this to turn into a full blown arguement, I'm quite simply stating that chelsea have a lot better chance than we do of winning the league
