Rafa " why i signed torres and not owen " - Gbjh this one is for you

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Well it's all opionions of course, but mine is that Fowler was at his prime a better player than Owen. It's early days yet for Torres, but in my opinion he will be better than both of them. In a few years time we'll be comparing Torres to Rush in terms of goalscoring exploits, while he has the awareness and skill of a Fowler and the pace of an Owen.

Since sometimes we rightly get accused of not giving credit where it's due, he was and is a brilliant signing by the manager.

Rush or Torres. Come back to me when Torres has broke Rush's record, until then it's Mr. Rush for me.
1) You'll Never Walk Alone
2) pass and move is the Liverpool groove
3) FIRST WILL ALWAYS BE FIRST AND SECOND WILL ALWAYS BE NOTHING.
4) If Torres has scored 60 league goals for Liverpool by the start of the 2011/12 season, I'll say he's better than Owen.

At least Torres won't ever be getting close to considering the 'not so subtle' overtures of Real Madrid if/when he gets fed up at Liverpool.....stranger things have happened. But i would doubt that one for a kick-off!

Manhattan will only compare Torres to Rush when Fernando grows a killer tash.

michael was a favourite of mine when he was at the club and i take no pleasure in seeing him playing in that dreadful newcastle side now, i can remember the good times he brought us and i thank him for that, at the time when owen went to RM not many players would of turned them down, well possibly only carra :D

as for Torres, well there is no doubt Rafa made the right choice and at this moment in time Torres us proving to be better than we could of imagined, cant remember many player coming from abroad and settling in so well in there first season, it helps when the players wants to come to you, infact dreams of playing for you, Guillem Ballague said this in an interview i heard recently, of course he isnt near fowler, owen, rush yet but in time he`ll make his own mark and take his place amongst the greats of that i have no doubt

Manhattan has a question.

Are Real Madrid like the Real Ghostbusters?

Manhattan predicts that next season in the Prem Torres will score between 50-80 goals.

It's amazing how football changes a person's opinion. I remember after the Botlon game "4-2-3-1 doesn't suit Torres" now he's being held in the same level as Rush.

Also anyone remember Newcastle away...5 sittes Mr Torres missed. :D (everyone is allowed a bad game I suppose)

Newcastle have "Northern Rock" written on their shirts.

Is that a wrestler or something?

To be fair, that was Saint who felt that the formation didn't suit Torres and he seems to be sticking to that based on his post in the match thread.  He's definitely one of our most consistent posters, particularly when it comes to championing 4-4-2.  :D

Torres is a better striker now than Owen ever was, more intelligent, quicker, stronger and more effective plus he's not a short-arsed back stabbing tw8t either. In Owen's last season he developed a phenomenal ability to hide behind the opposition defenders despite usually giving up about a foot in height to them. I was not sad to see him go and I have no wish to ever have him back at this club.

Well I'm with saint, I would rather have us play 4-4-2. That's the formation, I was brought up on, but while we're winning I wouldn't change anything just yet.
