It does make you wonder though doesn't it? Had we have prevailed at Home against Barnsley, we could have been staring down the gun-barrel at a very winnable Cup now with us being the only "big four" team in the semi finals. I know Tompkins hads decided that the FA Cup is of minor importance now we're out of it, but it would have been nice.
In any case fair do's to Barnsley, and on a serious note re the FA Cup, I hope the inevitable winning of the thing by a totally unheralded outfit doesn't serve to diminish the stature of the competition even more than has happened over the last decade or so. Those members of the Fa panel who allowed Man Utd to not bother defending the cup and have a mid season holiday all those years ago should hang their heads in shame.
