Who is Brouwer's mentor ? Dirk Kuyt ? ......

Saw the match....loved kewell's goal. also think nemeth is ready for 1st team (maybe as a substitute)...but he is way better than voronin and kuyt when he has the ball.

As for Brouwer....he really reminds me of dirk kuyt..

As for the bolton match...hope rafa picks kewell and lets him continue his scoring run

Anyway, our main rivals (Everton, Aston Villa, Man City, Portsmouth) have some tricky fixtures this weekend so we should be able to at the very least begin to narrow down the field realistically competing for the Holy Grail of fourth place during the next seven days.

Dude mick, Is that really you ? I mean....you did come up with an essay on how we will stroll to 4th position just a few months ago right ?  :p

juz kidding....yeah we have a fight on our hands... Can't believe how eversh1t keep winning games...they beat mancity at their stadium. And we drew there (and we still had people here saying how that is an awesome result and rafa should be knighted sort of stuff)...

Kewell has two goals in two ressie games this year

Am I missing something or is nobody talking about this  :

Rafa Benitez expects to use his rotation policy less in the coming months now Liverpool are fighting on just two fronts.
To watch the interview with Rafa click here >>

The Reds boss made only one change on Saturday from the Inter victory four days earlier – and that was enforced due to Jamie Carragher's suspension.

Asked if fans can expect fewer changes from game to game now Liverpool are out of both domestic cups, Benitez said: "I think so. It will depend on the players in the end, but we can keep some players playing more games now."

for me jordy is a mixture of dirk kuyt on his worst scoring days with a smaller peter crouch on his worst scoring days.  He just did an interview with the official and it was quite painful to watch, he kept trying to convince the interviewer that he scored a bunch of goals at Ajax, no he really did  :D  and he kept being asked about well you know you've had some tough times here at anfield, was it more difficult adapting to the english game than you thought?

John are you in la la land again :D cause i hope you are talking about Riise assisting here

Everyone jumping to conclusions again thinking I meant scoreline  :no

They are bookings  :p

No but in all seriousness, I think we'll :censored: these :censored:, and Riise will break his duck for the season. 40 yard rocket. Plus with this, it means Riise is leftback and not Aurellio, so every game I'm hoping Riise plays  :D

auerrilo is a far better footballer then riise

Being Australian im a massive Kewell Fan but ive been a Livepool fan for longer and i have (finally i know) come to admitt that his time with us is over.  Its a shame that he never got anywhere near his Leeds form and he now looks a shadow of that player, i think it would be best for him, Liverpool and Australian soccer if he gets a fresh start elsewhere.

I've been thinking about this match all week and I cannot call it. Bolton have shown signs of improvement under Megson but as Saint says, a lot of sting has gone out of the fixture since Fat Sam left. My problem is that I don't know what Liverpool will show up. While I was 100% certain that we would beat Inter last week (don't believe me? read my pre match comments in the Inter thread) I have no idea what will happen on Saturday as there is little or no logic to our league form this year (indeed last year as well).

Draws are no good, we need wins, wins and more wins to shake off the wannabes. I just can't picture villa or pompey finishing fourth, not sure I want to right now. I think we can take fourth if we want it, the other teams will need us to continue playing this badly IMHO and we need to step up and brush them aside.

So we need a win, anything less is serious trouble. We certainly can't afford the bitters to gain ground, we have to play them again but shouldn't need to be winning that to keep ourselves up there

Below is Mark Lawrensons prediction for the match. On one hand he says Liverpool need to keep winning, then Bolton cannot score then predicts a 2-0 home win. He's either lost it or theres been a mistake on the prediction.

SUNDAY

Bolton v Liverpool (1330 GMT)

Liverpool need to keep winning.

I was interested to read Steven Gerrard saying how frustrated he is by Liverpool's current position and the uncertainty surrounding the club.

I think he wants the whole thing sorted so that everyone can concentrate on football.

As for Bolton, my great worry about them surrounds where the goals are going to come from. This has been the case since Nicolas Anelka left - and it is a particularly stark issue when Bolton are at home and teams are sitting deep.

Gary Megson has done a good job but I'd love to know why he did not buy a striker in January after Anelka had been sold.

Match preview
Verdict: 2-0

I think he earned a spot at the San Siro with either Gerrard on the right or in a 4-5-1 with Gerrard in front of Nando. Don't see a lot of use for Xabi against Bolton. For me this game screams Crouch and Pennant. I would play Hyypia in this one, but would expect to see a LOT more of Skrtel and then Agger from here on out
                                           Reina
    Finnan             Carra                      Hyypia        Riise
   Pennant           Gerrard                   Mascherano    Babel
                        Torres                      Crouch
Subs: Martin, Arbeloa, LUCAS, YOSSI, Kuyt

Lucas for Mascha if we need to break em down, Yossi for a winger if further help is needed

No offence to anyone but alonso should never be back in the team , unless he rediscovers his form again . End of . Masch and gerrard partnership is better as with masch , gerrard can attack and with alonso , gerrard is not sure whether to attack or defend . Alonso shud only be back in the team , like mick said if he rediscovers his ability to control the pace of the game . I don't think he has earned his place in the san siro .

Taylor: No Special Treatment For Torres
Bolton wing-back Matthew Taylor claims that his side are not taking any special precautions to deal with the threat that is Fernando Torres when Liverpool visit The Reebok on Sunday.

The Spanish sensation took his tally to 21 goals for the season with a hat-trick in the 3-2 win over Middlesbrough, but Taylor insists that he will be treated just like any other striker in arguably the world's most competitive league.

“There are no special plans for Torres, we'll have to shackle him but we won’t change our game for him,” the 26-year-old said.

“There are plenty of fantastic players in The Premier League, arguably the best players play here, so we’ll have no special plans and we’ve just got to make sure we get our own game right.”

“It’s a big game, but we tend to respond well in big games – just before I arrived the lads beat Manchester United at home,” the ex Portsmouth star added.

“It’s always tough against Liverpool but there’s no reason why we can’t get a result.

“It’s important that we pick up points because I believe we’ve got the small task of Manchester United away after!

“Other teams around us don’t have easy runs either, but we have to take care of ourselves.

“We’ll give Liverpool respect, but they’re coming to our patch so we must perform.”

bit of a catch 22 then.  Don't play him until he regains his form. But how is he supposed to regain his form if you don't play him? HE certainly looked improved against the man u reserves for whatever that is worth. and if we want to be solid, gerrard is as solid as we get on the right, unless we stick kuyt out there which i am not keen on but its growing on me and i don't like that it is. for a big road game in europe i would trust alonso over lucas in the centre of midfield. One great pass that sends torres through could win the tie for us because they are not going to be able to score 4 and they will be on the attack knowing they need at least two.  Guess this shouldn't really be in the Bolton thread, but I never said Xabi should play against Bolton, the Inter match is a ways away

another fixture i generally can't stand. we usualluy get f#ck all down there.

having said that, play our strongest available team and we'll win imo. they're struggling this season and we have no excuse of having a champions league game in the week.

united went there, rested rooney and ronaldo and lost. we can't afford any similar slip ups.

Play the same formation we played against Aston Villa, but get Alonso back in the game alongside Mascherano and Gerrard behind torres.

Lets keep kuyt in the wings, I think he is doing a good job there running and tiring the full backs.

I completely agree, I think Kuyt is doing pretty well on the wings, Pennant can play on the left and can change positions with Kuyt.

£10million for a striker who's new job is to run up and down a lot and tire out the full back.  :D
